“Very disappointed!”

Wow - place looks really nice and the staff seems attentive; but the food was disappointing. We had a group of about 10; 2 of us ordered the $33 lamb and both came cold. Not lukewarm - but cold. When it was warm, it was about 5 bites total; Ive had fantastic lamb or the same price or less up in Napa. I would have thought this place would at least be decent. My wife ordered the pasta marinara and instead got something with white wine sauce. And even before that we indicated that we didn't want to order the meatball appetizer but it came anyway. Not sure if the server was new but really poor service. In return, they did comp $45 worth of appetizers - I should have fought for the 2 lamb amounts instead. Yeah, great view from the place and the wine was reasonably priced and of high quality. But I can't believe I paid so much money for such low quality and quantity food.

This is a fabulous restaurant in a first rate Tuscan setting but unfortunately during the high season they just don't cater to couples who would like to enjoy a romantic celebration. There are less than 5 tables for couples and only one has a great view, the rest are shoe horned into what ever nook and cranny that is left to be filled. Too bad as the food and wine is first class. If snow birds are priority one in the winter then the locals may not be back in the summer.

“Quite pleasant”

Originally shown to a noisy, cramped dining area which we simply did not accept. Then shown to a perfect area of the patio, so it pays to be firm here. A restuarant of some contrasts, starters were excellent, the mussels in particular. Main courses were disappointing and salty as previous reviewers have noted. Our server was well informed and efficient. Overall though, a pleasant dining experience once we got settled in.

“Very Surprised”

The atmosphere was beautiful . . very cozy and romantic . . perfect for our anniversary dinner.

Everyone was pleasant and greeted us with smiles. But that is where our enjoyment ended. The food service did not meet the expectation one has at a fine dining restaurant. The menus were not explained until prompted, and there appeared to be a lack of understanding on the listed items offered. The menu uses Italian jargon, which is ok, as long it is followed by clear explanations by the server. An expectation from a fine dining restaurant. We had to ask the server to explain rather than the server offering to explain.

The food itself was very well presented but the flavors were masked by salt. Although, most salt to taste, it clearly was overwhelming on both dishes. Both my husband and I found the pasta/gnocchi to be extremely salty.

Unfortunately, the night ended on a negative note as well. At the end of the dinner, my husband turned to get out of the chair to find gum stuck to the leg of his pants just over his knee. Reaching under the table, he found the table to have at least 3 wads of gum stuck underneath. It really surprised us both. The manager handled it by apologizing and offered to pay for the dry cleaning. I'm not sure if that's how it should have been handled because I'm not in the restaurant business. However, as patrons we left not feeling good and unsure if the money spent was worth it.

“Great Dinner, Bad View”

Went to Sassi upon recommendation from our Concierge at Westin Kierland. Restaurant really located off the beaten path at the edges of Scottsdale. When we arrived for dinner (5 pm), my wife said we should leave before it gets dark so we don't get lost or stranded on the road. Upon arrival we found the restaurant located next to one of those theme cowboy steak restaurants with a full parking lot.

Restaurant was nicely decorated in Arizona motif. Lots of small party rooms, open patio for dining and gazebo areas to walk and view the scenery. The host seated us unfortunately in a corner and we could see nothing of the view, which we learned was dramatic after we finished dinner. The restaurant was near empty at that hour, but it seems they were seating to fill a room at a time based on wait staff/etc. The meal was very nice - original items, lots of fresh vegetables and entree was very tasty.

Anyone going though should ask for a window view or sit on the patio if cool enough.
