We found this restaurant by accident. Upon arriving in Phoenix on a rainy afternoon, we headed to AZ88 at the Scottsdale Mall where we had eaten in December 2007. Unfortunately, we arrived to find that the restaurant was full and there was a line out the door. The clientele had obviously changed as the place basically looked like a nightclub. Bouncers at the door were allowing scantily clad women to enter despite telling us that there was a wait for tables. Not a problem. TripAdvisor located Karsen's Grill. After one phone call (we spoke to the owner) and a run across Old Town in the rain, we found this small place where we were greeted, and served, by the owner himself. Each time he returned to the table, he called us by our first names. The food was excellent and so was the service. We ended up returning again the next day and will be going back again this week on our return visit to Scottsdale. Where else do oyu get to get served by the owner and called by your first name? On the second day, he even asked how our trip was going.
