“Excellent service, food and price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

We went to Old Town Scottsdale to walk around and found Barrio Queen. What a great find. Jesse our waiter was the perfect server! We were able to sit outside and enjoy the great weather and the food was fabulous. Started with chips and awesome salsa, had the guacamole (never would have thought pomegranate would have been so good in guacamole!)
I had the tacos, after all the chips and guac the small sized tacos were perfect. Husband had a chicken burrito and the sangria and enjoyed it as well.
We had no wait for the table and the food was timed perfectly (not to fast or too slow) i highly recommend if you're in the area.

“Cuisine fit for a Queen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

The Queen's nationally recognized chef, Silvana Salcido Esparza, also founded Barrio Cafe in Phoenix. The two eateries, while similar in outlook, have totally different menus and tones. The Cafe is more of a fancy, sit-down-dinner sort of place, though it's fancy only in relation to the Queen. The Queen is sort of an elevated dive, though "dive" is a loosely used term in the same way Barrio Cafe can be termed "fancy." The Queen is drop-dead hip, beautifully decorated with central Mexican motifs and a mixed-metaphor modern industrial look, booths with a view of the kitchen, genial staff, and, among other delights, the best tacos in Valley. It's one of the top places in Scottsdale for a late-night bite and, as you'll see if you venture down to the Arts District and order just about anything she's whipped up, Silvana is a visionary purveyor of post-traditional Mexican fare. Bravo.

“Great food, great drink.”

We enjoyed really tasty and unique tacos, burritos, and margaritas at this terrific restaurant in a fun part of old town Scottsdale. We'll be back, for certain.

“Friendly Place, Central Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

We ate here yesterday for lunch and were delighted. The service was excellent and the food good. The prices were quite reasonable. We ate outside and enjoyed both the weather and the views of the most pleasant corner of Scottsdale. This is located near the bridge (over the irrigation canal) connecting Fashion Square with downtown Scottsdale. After lunch we walked along the manicured walkways along the canal to the Solari Bridge near Scottsdale Road.

“Love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

This is one of my favorite regular places to visit. I love the food - especially the table-side guacamole. The wait staff are fun and energetic. They enjoy talking and can really add to one's experience. Whether it is brunch, lunch, mid-afternoon or dinner, Barrio Queen is always an option on my list!

Oh, and, fyi, they have a great selection of margaritas. I have tried most of them but my favorite is the casa margarita.

While I did not mention much about the food, it, too, is very good. Definitely a great place to enjoy the food, drink and GUACAMOLE.
