We just returned from a week long vacation at the Westin Kierland Hotel. It was incredible. The weather could not have been better, averaging 75 degrees with little or no wind. Stayed at the main hotel with a great view overlooking the 27 hole golf course. Staff was very welcoming from the get go and felt comfortable asking for anything. Our room was very spacious for my husband and our newborn. Enjoyed taking walks around the facility at sunset, very calming and everyone always seemed to be so happy. Asked a young woman named Haley for directions at the golf facility and she delightfully took us to our destination in a golf cart....so kind! In back of the main hotel there's a firepit and often a bagpipe player at sunset. Romantic and so enjoyable! A pleasant experience for us all. The staff EVERYWHERE was magnificent, especially the young man at the front desk...he always welcomed us with a bright smile and seemed very delighted to be working there. The spa was very nice (a 'lil pricy). Valet is expensive but can easily park your car yourself. My husband golfed and said experience was the best yet. Recommend booking tee times early b/c good times fill up quickly this time of year! Had a great lazy river for those with kids. An adult pool with great big cabanas, lined with beautiful blooming orange trees. The highlight was an unexpected, magnificent fireworks display at sunset. (There was a wedding that night) There never felt like there were alot of people on the resort.
Locally, there are plenty of things to do. Kierland Commons located right next door. Think Z Gallerie, Crate and Barrel, J Crew, Coach, Anthropologie, with also some higher end local stores. The Cheescake Factory, Mortons Steakhouse, 'RA sushi restaurant, and also The Ocean Club (which I heard Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn recently dined there...kind of cool) also located within. Just up the street...Fox Sports Bar and Grill, Maggiano's Italian Restaurant, a great Japanese place called Sapporo (highly recommended...cook in front of you kind of place) and was very pleased to learn of an In' an Out nearby :) Basically any food you would want is within minutes. Also a Safeway located next door for personal items if needed.
Its located just off of Scottsdale Avenue, which I heard can basically get you anywhere easily in the area. Twenty five minute ride from airport (depending on traffic) and is just blocks away from the Scottsdale Airport. Heard about timeshares but never seemed pressured into it - I wouldn't be the best person to ask about these. Overall, I would recommend this place to even my closest friends! It was an unforgettable week, we felt as if we were in another world for awhile! Great work guys! See you next year!
