I stayed in a standard double room at this property from July 9-13 in order to attend a business conference. The property is absolutely beautiful, with amazing service and wonderful staff. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the decor was lovely. I was a little surprised that the beds were only doubles and not queens. I had never encountered that in a hotel before, and I definitely didn't expect that from a hotel as high caliber as this one. Still, the beds were very comfortable and as long as you don't have to share, the double bed is adequate. My biggest frustration with this resort had more to do with all the hidden costs than anything. There was no complimentary shuttle from the airport, but the hotel will provide transportation for approximately $50 each way. (Parking at the resort IS free, however, so we opted to rent a car instead, which ended up being a great choice. Scottsdale is a very easy city to maneuver around, and we loved having the freedom to leave the resort to go shopping and check out the sights.) Wifi is provided free of charge in the lobby, but if you want access in your room, it's going to cost you $12/day. And, if you think that's bad, the wifi in the conference area is three times that! These rates seem exorbitant given that you can get free wifi in almost every coffee shop in North America, and even most budget hotels offer this complimentary service. It annoyed me to have to pay for it. I also found the pubs and restaurants on site very pricey, and opted not to eat there. Instead, (thanks to the rental car) we checked out some great local restaurants and some of the better chain restaurants that are also nearby. Other than these small complaints, I had a great stay. The conference facilities were wonderful, the meals at the conference were good, and the coffee shop was a very welcome sight each morning. I enjoyed both swimming pools and loved the lazy river! In short, this is not a resort for the budget-minded traveller, but it's certainly a very nice property.
