“Had a great time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

My boyfriend and I, and some friends, went on the Tempe Town Lake segway trip with Tiffany yesterday late afternoon. It was a beautiful day and everything went smoothly. It was her first dealing with a larger group (there were 13 of us) on her own. She was SOO patient with each and every one of us. I stayed towards the back of the group with my boyfriend because he was a little more tentative on the Segway; but Tiffany always made a point to come back and check on us. We really had a wonderful time and will definitely try one of the other tours next time. I will certainly recommend this adventure to others. Tiffany, keep up the great job!!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

We bought this Groupon for the night tour at Desert Ridge. When I called to make a reservation, I was told that they would not be having any night tours until next June, so we took a morning time slot that was available. Tiffany was our tour guide and she gave good information and detailed safety rules during the training. However, the very second we started touring, the safety rules she gave were broken by none other than herself. I was shocked! She did not wear a helmet and she started doing tricks on the segway, immediately. Squats, arms out wide like she was surfing, hands completely off the segway and she even showed off by going down the stairs at City North. I would never take a kid on this tour...if the tour guide disregards safety, they likely would too. The tour was a big disappointment to us. The information we purchased said it was a "narrated tour." Tiffany was so far ahead of us (about 50 yards) and never spoke the entire "tour." Our group found it difficult to keep up with her. The other disappointment was the actual tour itself. Aside from the tennis court parking lot, we saw nothing of the J.W. Marriott. We literally went across the street to City North, through a parking garage, then back across the street and rode through the desert. The desert there isn't attractive and exciting with wildlife, etc., but rather is like a bunch of broken weeds and potholes. A very strange choice for a tour. Bottom line, I would not recommend this tour.

“Tiffany was great! Fun time.”

Had a fun time. I was scared at first, however, Tiffany was a great instructor and make it easy. Would totally do again. I'm glad I wore tennis shoes.

“Tempe Town Lake Segway Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

We had so much fun learning to ride the segways as well as touring around the Tempe Town Lake ares. Tiffany was our instructor and guide and was great! She instructed us well and used a lot of humor. We highly recommend doing this as an activity.

“Tiffany and Tempe Town Lake...Perfect Together”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

We saw a GroupOn available for Segway of Scottsdale and decided to give them a try. We had ridden Segways previously, but not at Tempe Town Lake.

They ask that you show up 15 minutes early to sign paperwork, and so they can start the training on-time. The first 10 minutes was a demonstration by Tiffany, who led the tour, of what to do on a Segway and more importantly what not to do. She was thorough yet entertaining.

Our group of a dozen folks had a wide range of ages, as well as first time and experienced Segway riders. Tiffany (and her assistant Aaron) did a good job providing the right amount of personalized training in the parking lot of the Tempe Arts Center before we all scooted off on our adventure.

The trip around the lake area was on sidewalks, wide walkways, and up and down ramps. Although not difficult in any way the changes in the pavement and terrain kept things interesting. We also discovered some areas around the lake that we hadn't been to before, which was nice.

A few tips:
1) There is a little storage bag on the Segway which is perfect for storing two half-liter bottles of water and other items. I strongly recommend bringing water for yourself, and if you like bring an extra bottle for someone on the tour who forgot to bring theirs. They'll appreciate it and you may make a new friend.
2) Segway of Seattle asks that you come 15 minutes early...That will help keep things on schedule.
3) There is a 10 minute break in the middle of the tour near the marina docks which have restroom facilities.
4) Our tour, including training, ended up being about 2 hours so you may want to plan accordingly.
5) Wear comfortable shoes since you will be standing on the Segway for quite a while. Shoes such as MBTs that are designed to keep you from walking on your heels are not the best for riding Segways since you will be balancing on your heals for most of the ride.

One suggestion we have for Segway of Scottsdale is to provide wireless headphones so the tour leader can point out spots of interest. This is something we enjoyed on our first Segway tour with a different company.

We had a terrific time on this tour and appreciate Tiffany's great attitude, professionalism, and attention to safety.
