“PLEASANT STAY AT SCOTTSDALE VILLA MIRAGE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

I stayed at the Scottsdale Villa Mirage at the end of 2012. Upon check-in, I was given a sales pitch to obtain a timeshare; and although I told the person behind the counter that I wasn't interested, they wouldn't take no for an answer and was quite pushy, and I had to walk away. The location was a little out of the way, being at the end of a long dead end street, so I had to travel a bit to get back to the resort each night. The use of the washer and dryer and complimentary laundry detergent was a big plus! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the all-night open lobby, where I used the internet, watched tv and had a cup of tea. I found my room clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom in my unit were spacious. I enjoyed the heated pool and spa and took advantage of the free water aerobics class with an excellent instuctor. I would definitely recommend the Scottsdale Villa Mirage.

We were able to get a good groupon deal to stay at this resort, and so the value was great. The studio room was a perfect size for us, and we enjoyed the large fridge, 2 burner stove top, microwave, and dishwasher that came with the kitchen. The pool area was nice with plenty of umbrellas for shade, and it was not too crowded in June when we were there (however the average temp was 110). The only disappointment was that wifi cost 6.95/day and we heard from other guests that neighboring resorts and hotels offered free wifi. We were able to use one of the 2 computers in the lobby, but had problems with their internet as well. Overall, we had a good experience and it was perfect for a quiet and relaxing vacation spot.

Room Tip: If you are a couple, the studio size is perfectly adequate, with a large bathroom and nice kitchen a...

We really enjoyed the Scottsdale location, as we were very near to great shopping and restaurants.

The room had a good kitchen and a large bathroom with a soaking tub and oversized shower stall. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well all week.

However, the exteriors of the buildings were out of date and the outside areas were dirty. We saw lots of bird droppings, gum on the sidewalk, dirty building exteriors, and the pool area was not especially clean. The stairwells were particularly bad.

Our son enjoyed the splash pad, but there were bees there during the day and some of the water jets were not working. As mentioned in other reviews, the pool was very busy at all times.

Also, parking was tight in the evenings. Unless we came back early, we had to park quite a ways from our unit in the evenings.

Overall we had a good in-room experience but the outside of the property did not impress.

Room Tip: If you want to join Diamond, you can just get a membership on eBay for a few bucks.

We liked the resort, quiet setting a few miles from restaurants and shops. The 1 bedroom unit was spacious with a nice balcony overlooking the common area. A full kitchen, roomy bedroom and large bathroom. The sofa needed to be replaced and many stains on the carpeting. The resort had lots of guests but only 1 very crowded pool as the temperature was over 100F. There is an adult spa pool but who wants to sit in hot water when it's so hot outside! The staff are very friendly and the grounds are well kept. Building 4 is the place to be if you are travelling with children as the playground equipment is nearby.

We are sorry to read that you were not fully satisfied with your recent stay and we apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced due to the limited pool size. Unfortunately, in the hot weather , pool side is extremely popular and can get relatively busy.
We would like to take this opportunity to note that we are currently undergoing a refurbishment and we are certain that the issues mentioned by you will not be a problem for much longer, nevertheless we appreciate your comments and apologise for any dissatisfaction this may have caused. We hope that we will have another opportunity to welcome you in the future and we wish you all the best on your travels.

We stayed in a studio suite at Villa Mirage for 4 nights in February 2013. We were very pleased with the roominess and layout of the suite - we had been expecting it might be on the small side but were very pleasantly surprised. The pools looked beautiful - we used one of them one evening and were the only ones there - we were definitely there in the low season.
The unit was clean and very well-equipped. The bed was very comfortable.
The staff were very friendly, and checking in and out went very smoothly and quickly.
We did allow ourselves to get talked in to attending a timeshare presentation which was perhaps a mistake. The salesperson was very 'persuasive' and we ended up buying additional points in our Diamond Resorts membership. We have yet to determine whether that was a good move or not!
Overall, we were very pleased with the resort and look forward to going back many more times.

We were in the area for a seminar and choose to stay here through a trade in time share points. The resort was well kept, the staff were all very friendly, and no pushy sales pitch at check in. We stayed in a very quiet 3rd floor studio and were pleased to see we had a full fridge, microwave, cooktop, and dishwasher as well as a toaster, 12cup coffee maker, blender, and plenty of dishes/pans. Our room was very clean and updated with a table and chairs, couch, and bed. There was plenty of space to unpack clothes, toiletries, etc. The couch was not the most comfortable to sit on, but the bed was fine. It did take awhile to get hot water, as in minutes of running the water until it got warm and water pressure wasn't the best. We did use and enjoy the pool, the chairs are comfortable for soaking in some sun. We also used the washer and dryer available at the activity center and are glad to be able to do so. The location was perfect, close to stopping, Pinnacle Peak and other hikes, and an easy on/off of the highway. We will certainly consider staying here again if we make it back to the area!

We've visited the Phoenix area before, but never really stayed-in or spent much time in Scottsdale.Villa Mirage Scottsdale is owned and run by Diamond Resorts International. It was designed as a time share and we swapped a unit we own on Interval for a two-bedroom suite with a kitchen and living room. The suite we had for the week was nicely decorated and was presented to us on-time, clean and neat. The furnishings were pretty nice and in good shape. The kitchen had an oven, stove top, a full-size refrigerator, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a blender and enough dishes, glassware and flatware for four people. This unit has two separate balconies with enough space to sit and enjoy the outdoors without even leaving the unit. One had a nice view of the interior courtyard (lots of trees in bloom and some other shrubs) - we saw a hummingbird one one morning before it got too warm. We used the resort as a great jumping off point for Sedona, Tempe, Jerome, Williams/Grand Canyon, etc. in addition to Old Town Scottsdale.

The management had the service staff put in some starter kits of dish-wash liquid, dishwasher detergent, tissues, etc. It's a nicety, but some timeshares don't provide these niceties and you have to hit the supermarket the moment you arrive. It was pleasant to have the starters so we put off shopping until day two.

The resort itself has a pool, a hot tub, BBQ grills, tennis courts, an activity and a workout center. There seemed to be a young child activity center within the activity center. There's a small restaurant on the premises but we didn't partake - we ate out or brought food in and cooked while we were there. They had one maid service while we were there in the middle of the week - most time shares charge even for a single maid service - it was nice that they provided it for free. The staff we interfaced with were all very friendly and helpful, just what you want.

There were a couple of thing to note that we thought they could improve. The resort is a bit hard to find off the main streets, but workable (even my GPS got lost) - I had to break down and ask someone at a nearby resort for directions - then no problem. Secondly, the lobby in the resort was so noisy when we checked-in that it was hard to hear the person who was checking me in - they could use some sound-quieting rugs or other tapestries on the walls to kill the noise level. One of the three TVs in our unit was a nice new digital set with great picture and sound, the other two need an upgrade - older sets that the resort should swap out for newer ones. I was a little ticked that the resort has no free wi-fi, you had to sign-up with AT&T and they charged $30 per computer for the week - a bit much and just an annoyance, like when hotels used to charge for phone service. Also, my wife longed for a clock in the bedroom - I agree that it's nice to open your eyes at night and be able to see the time if you want.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay - two couples with enough privacy in the two bedroom unit so we weren't in each others' spaces and some common areas where we could eat together when we had meals there or hang out, etc. I understand that they also rent rooms if you don't own a time share and just want to rent.

Last, but not least, most timeshares want to give you their sales pitch, we usually skip it and we did this time also. If you don't like high pressure sales, I'd recommend skipping the pitch - no matter what they offer you (free hotel stays, free meals, etc - skip it all).

This resort is on my recommended list.
