“Very trendy Botique Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

This is an older hotel, completely redone. It reminds me of the art deco hotels in South Beach Florida. Very bright colors. Very nice pools. One for quite, reading (Calma) one for the 20 & 30 somethings to strut their stuff. Nice bar, misters and music playing. Although we are older we can appreciate the whole package. Staff was super helpful and made sure you were taken care of. Area of hotel is excellent for those wanting to walk or ride a bike around old Scottsdale and shop, eat or bar hop. Price was exceptional - we really liked the hotel and would stay there again, airport is 10-15 minute drive

Room Tip: If you want quite, request by Calma pool

Hi Valarie,

Thank you for your kind review.

The 12 colors used throughout the property represent the wildflowers which are indigenous to the Arizona desert. This certainly makes for a unique collaboration between landscape and architecture.

We are so glad you enjoyed our pool areas; music, food, drinks, games and fabulous mister all make for a amazing day at the pool, a great environment.

Like so many of your guest, you too enjoyed the great location. Old Town Scottsdale has something for everyone. Sound like you might have even had an opportunity to take us up on a bike ride, they are fun........

My question for you, when do you return?

Until then, be well!

For the price, this is a great bed and a great pool. The hotel restaurant is tasty and Aurora at the front desk made up for an unwanted staff visit with a late checkout. If you are in Scottsdale and you want to chill out at a reasonable price I would recommend it. We were very pleased.

Hi SensLaron,

I enjoyed reading your review, thank you for that. You mentioned the "great" beds and "great" pool, clearly 2 reasons we hear often a compliments to our hotel. I would like to thank you for 2 of your other mentions; Price Value and Aurora. Yes, we believe we are a great value for the Old Town Scottsdale area. And Aurora, well she is a tremendous assest to your hotel. Trust me, she is a gem! I will certainly share your comments with the team, especially Aurora.

We hope to see you again soon!

We just stayed one night, and I wish it had been more. Staff was very helpful and efficient. Rooms very clean and comfortable, with quirky, brightly coloured decor.Did not get to use the pool/spa area, but it looked lovely.Easy walk to the Main St Arts district, with fun shops and restaurants. Looking forward to a longer stay in future!

We had a wonderful time at The Saguaro. The staff was excellent: friendly, helpful, smiling. Our room was clean and the bed so comfy. Our room overlooked the small pool and I loved the sound of the waterfall in our room. The bright colors, the delicious food at Distrito and the small coffee kiosk in the lobby all made our stay fabulous! We could walk to Old Town Scottsdale. This hotel was quiet a quiet retreat in the middle of the city. We had a suite so our room had both a great walk in shower and a soaking tub that you could almost swim in.

Hi Allans1095,

I hope this finds you well. Thank you so much for the review which you have written. I will certainly share your compliments regarding the excellent friendly smiles, with the entire team. It is most certainly appreciated.

The 12 colors used throughout the property represent the wildflowers which are indigenous to the Arizona desert. This certainly makes for a unique collaboration between landscape and architecture. I am so glad you found the colors to be pleasant.

Our resturant, Distrito, is operated by Iron Chef Jose Garces. They provide delicious entrees. I am so glad you had an opportunity to enjoy.

LOL, I had heard many compliments regarding the "soaking tub", which I experienced. That would certainly be a welcomed amenity at home.

For now, take care, and hope to see you soon.

This was our first stay at the Saguaro and boy, was it awesome! We walked in delighted by all of the brightly colored decor, and in awe by the TWO weddings taking place. Greeting us at the desk was Tatiana, where she gave us a quick checkin and thorough guidance. She was extremely accommodating and very helpful. She definitely made our 1st stay there amazing. The valet guys were super quick and friendly too. We appreciated their service as they were very helpful as well. We will continue to stay there when we travel to Scottsdale (& tell all of our friends too). Great location, rooms are trendy- not too pricey, fun ambience, and awesome staff...hands down everything we wanted.

Dear Michelle D,

Thank you so much for your review. It is certainly most appreciated. We take great pride in provided unique and geniune experiences to each and every guest. Perhaps that is why so many couples come to the Saguaro for their wedding and overnight accommodations, as you seen.

The 12 colors used throughout the property represent the wildflowers which are indigenous to the Arizona desert. This certainly makes for a unique collaboration between landscape and architecture.

Oh, dont let me forget to personally thank you for your mention of Tatiana. She is AMAZING, such a great personality. She truly wants to connect and please everyone, for that we are honored to have Tati on our team. I will certainly share your comments with Tati and the entire team.

For now, take care.

This is my second stay at this property. And whenever I'm in Scottsdale, I'll look for this hotel.

All Joie de Vivre Hotels are charming. But this one is particularly awesome. First is the location: Smack dab in the center of it all. Easy walk to Old Town and all other great spots in Scottsdale for dining and nightlife.

Service is even better. Right from check-in to check-out, employees go out of their way to make you feel special and welcome. From dinner reservations to handling a Fed Ex delivery of an important package, they took care of everything with efficiency and care.

The rooms are, honestly, not going to be everyone's cup of tea. This is an older property that's been spruced up to look fresh and young. But the property does show a bit of its age. Some will love the decorating (bright colors), and some won't. I think it's pretty cool. But friends of mine think the place looks garish.

Sliding doors on the bathroom, so be warned -- if that sort of thing bothers you.

Like any old-school hotel, there can be lots of pool action. Get a room that suits what you like!

Room Tip: Higher floors tend to be a bit quieter.

Hi Bret F,

Thank you for your honest review, it is certainly appreciated. You are correct, the location is the BEST! Old Town Scottsdale has everything; shopping, resturants, bars, etc. An AMAZING location.

Oh yes, THANK YOU so much for your kind words regarding our service staff, I will certainly share. While our property is older, as you indicated, we work extremely hard to overcome that with your service levels. Our pools, fitness center, and Iron Chef Jose Garces Resturant all offer an unique experience.

Will we see you again soon?

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding we were attending on the property. Check in was simple, quick and easy. Valet was offered at no additional cost and the valet staff was very helpful and welcoming. This hotel is bright and colorful, not at all like a traditional resort hotel which I liked. Our room was small but just what we needed, nice balcony. We were on the third floor in building 2 with a view of the pool area (there are 2 pools). The balconies are private but A/C unit was noisy so don't expect quiet. I noticed some of the balconies on the other buildings were so narrow it seems impossible to even stand comfortably on them, I would recommend requesting a bigger one, if you enjoy sitting outside for coffee, etc. However, there is no patio furniture so we brought out the chairs from our room. Bed was comfortable, room came with 2 robes, Kuerig coffee maker, mini fridge, large closet, ironing board/iron, safe, hair dryer, lots of towels and toiletries. Walking distance to Old Town Scottsdale which has galleries, shops, restaurants and nice walking areas. Definitely check out The Sugar Bowl! The hotel's restaurant, Distrito, hosted the wedding reception so we were able to sample some of the menu. Very good but very "trendy" food. Small portions. Nice bar but pricey drinks, $15 for a beer and margarita! Nice coffee bar in lobby. The only complaint I have is the walls are very thin and we could hear the music from the pool areas quite loudly pretty early in the morning, housekeeping vacuuming hallways and next room and traffic noise. We were hoping to sleep in so that was a nuisance. Other than that, I would stay again and recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with large balcony
