“Wonderful Meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

I would highly recommend The Mission. Lively atmosphere, great food make sure you make reservations. Yes, the fresh guacamole made at your table is a must. The pork shoulder tacos were fantastic. The pineapple jalapeño glaze is memorable. Best meal on our trip. Will go back. Don't forget to get the amazing fried bananas.

“Return Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

For the 3rd year in a row we returned to "The Mission during our Spring Training trip. This restaurant does not disappoint. We sat on the patio on a beautiful night and the meal was as great as the weather. Grouper special, Short Rib tacos, and the tableside guacamole were all excellent. The guacamole is on the "best I have ever had" list for us!!! Service was perfect, manager/owner stopped by and was friendly and engaging. The Mission is quickly becoming our favorite place to eat in Scottsdale.

“Mission-Airy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

What a great location in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale with plenty of outdoor seating in the perfect weather of an Arizona spring (training.) Watched the SF Giant fans stream to their game after enjoying the Scottsdale Festival of the Arts.

What a great lunch. The mahi-mahi tacos were soooo good. Loved the chicken tacos also. Great spicy sauce. No spice on the mahi mahi but the aji rocoto and the cotija cheese were great. We watched the guacamole being created table side and wished we had ordered it. Lots to eat but next time we'll give it a go. Attractive place with a great staff and we're already planning a return trip.

“Great Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

We were in Old Scottsdale today and looking for a place to eat. I checked Trip Advisor and up popped The Mission. It did have a 45 minute wait so I suggest reservations. (45 mins was only 10 and we had a table). If you know anything about this place you know to try the table made Guac. You determine what goes in it and how spicy and they make it fresh at your table for you. The food is very good and the portions are perfect size.

“Mix feelings on food - great spot and service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Tried this for the first time since on yelp it indicated it serve food till 2am. But this is not the case dinner over at 10 pm . We had just made it and had a great first course crispy pork belly in lettuce taco . It was excellent. Had table side guacamole which was very fresh not really unique but great. Salsa with chips was real good.

Bad part - ordered tostadas they were chicken, Not very warm and too much salt and one of them was really tough and tostada was hard and stale (big disappointment sine it was $12) very small also . These are relatively easy to make fresh wired they were bad...

They we tried the empanada. not good either too much pastry was too thich hard to chew. Filling was good but overall not even enjoyable.

Perhaps because it was late? Decor was great , servers were great loved the spot food was a mixed bag. Some great some not at all good.

Would try again to see if this is an issue. But for the price the food should be at least average.
