My husband and I stayed three nights at the Four Seasons and enjoyed it very much. Here are the highlights:
What we loved:
- The property is meticulously maintained. The plantings are gorgeous, the buildings in perfect condition, and the decor was well done.
- The views are remarkable. (But, a word about the "premier casitas," below.)
- The staff was exceptionally well trained and attentive.
- Nice amenities (gym, spa, restaurants, etc.)
- Room 906 (the desert garden suite) was really nice.
- The pool is relaxing, expecially under the cabanas with spray mist and ice water.
- Very easy walk from the property to Pinnacle Peak, a stunning hike.
- A recommendation to eat at Greasewood, an outdoor music venue across the street that serves hamburgers and hot dogs. It was lots of fun! We walked, which is certainly possible, but it was a bit farther than I bargained for.
- Yummy coffee and muffin bar every morning in the lobby. A nice touch, and the muffins were tasty.
- Although you can't use the room's mini-fridge to store your own things, you can request a complimentary second fridge to do so. This was nice for our extra waters, etc.
What we didn't:
- I booked a "premier casita," the rooms which are billed as the 40 with the best views. We were placed, however, in building 22, which is somewhat outside of the property (far from the pool, etc. and near the front gate). Our view was more of the driveway and cars than the desert. I asked the front desk the next a.m. whether we could be moved (because we really wanted a pretty view) and we were accomodated late that afternoon. (Holly at the front desk was really nice and patient with me.) I really don't think Building 22 can be said to have a great view at all, and if we had not been moved to another room, I would not have felt that the higher rate was worth the view.
- The resort, like many of its type, charges very high prices for simple items. At some point it seems a little silly, given the room rates. For example, 10 minutes on the internet is $10, an iced tea at the pool is $4, and a smoothie at breakfast is $8. Again, this isn't unusual, but it would be nice for a resort someday to avoid these kind of charges.
- Room service is unexplicably slow. I ordered a bowl of soup at the spa and it took an hour. Really? An hour to warm a bowl of soup?
Overall, great resort and a really nice stay. We had a wonderful time and would very likely return.
