“out of the way is not a bad thing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Average Comfort Inn...the property is old, but well maintained. The clerk who checked us in was very friendly & interested in how we were. The bathroom is small, remember the property is older. There was a flat screen TV, fridge & microwave and a table for 2. Certainly adequate for a room to sleep in. Prescott downtown is 2 miles away and most of the restaurants are that far. There used to be 2 restaurants within walking distance (one is across the street) and if they reopen, it will be more convenient for those who find it an imposition to drive 2 miles

Room Tip: If you don't like stairs, ask for a first floor room.

Thought was lost in the woods. Quite a ways out of town and away from fuel and food stops. This is a two story hotel with no elevator. Carrying bags upstairs was not fun. Room was average most likey would not stay there again mostly due to location.

Room Tip: If you like the woods you will love this place

I stayed at this hotel over a weekend while I looked for a home after a promotion in Prescott. It's kind of back in the woods which is Ok, but it is indeed old. Everything about this hotel is old except the flat screen TV in the room. Hotwire says this hotel is 2.5 stars....I don't think so! It's probably more like 2 stars at best. We are a middle class family and I don't complain about hotels very often, but this one I don't think the rating is justified.
The room itself was clean and the hotel overall is pretty clean, just outdated. The two complaints I have inside the room was the bed was hard as a Rock! Also, the shower faucet temperature had a mind of its own. There was no consistency and changed temperatures very quickly and out of nowhere! The last morning she showered, the faucet got hot and scalded her pretty badly. She came flying out of the shower screaming. I brought it up to the front desk man and he did kind of say, Wow, that's not good. But that was it. He didn't empathize really about it, nor did he offer me any sort of accommodations or allowances for that situation happening. He just said he would get maintenance on it right away. I thought about staying and fighting for a price adjustment, but I was in a hurry to get back home.
The free breakfast in lobby was not bad. Had normal continental type things but also waffles, sausage, and eggs as well. It was suitable and decent.
Overall, this hotel is cheap so that's why we stayed there this time. Don't go there expecting too much and you will be just fine!

If I was to compare to other Comfort Inn hotels this is a lower than average due to the age of the building. The furniture, beds, TV's etc were all newer so the place had gone through a decent renovation but it was still structurally older and didn't feel new and fresh. The lobby was literally going through an upgrade while I was there as it was torn apart and work was being done. The Breakfast Area is very small and I would be surprised if it meets Comfort Standards. The evening clerk was very nice and friendly and I don;t remember her name or I would list it but she was an older lady. She was the best part of the experience so at least the staff was great! The WIFI worked but was on the slower side but good enough for basic web browsing and e-mail. If you needed to do any real downloading you would not be pleased.

The Comfort Inn at Ponderosa Pines is located just over a mile from Prescott, AZ, on Highway 89. Prescott was the original capital of Arizona in the Territory Days. Arizona has been a state since 1912. Happy Birthday, AZ!!

The room included a king-size bed (and the sheets fit, WooHoo!!), a fridge and microwave, as well as an iron and ironing board, coffee pot, a safe, and a big LG HDTV with great reception and about 50 channels. I did not try the wireless, but they have it. Although my wife and I stayed during a minor snowstorm, the room was well heated.

Breakfast was comprehensive and included: sausage and eggs (scrambled and hard boiled), fruit, waffles, bagels, toast and/or sweet rolls or muffins, four types of juice, coffee and tea, as well as yogurt. We were surprised that a hotel located out of the mainstream traffic of town would cater such a large breakfast. The quality of all the food was fresh and good.

One minor problem was the toilet float needed adjustment, so it tended to run off and on all night. The bathroom was a bit rustic but functional. The pool or "spa" was closed because of the cold.

I did not read the reviews here on Tripadvisor before I booked (using my points), and I do not agree with them. Our experience was good and the breakfast was really good. We also had a free newspaper each day. No real complaints here. For a hotel located next to the Prescott National Forest, the quality was good. We would stay there again.

We booked through Hotwire for a 2.5 star hotel. Not even a one, really. Carpet had probably never been replaced since the hotel was new in the 1980's. Room smelled of something strong like they were trying to cover worse smells. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Have to agree with most of the comments. This hotel is older, our room was OK, clean as it could be for an old hotel. Room did have a Microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator, and of course the safe!
The bill had almost $25.00/night of various taxes added to the room rate. It is not a convenient location for doing any walking, you have to drive every where. All we did was sleep there, so it was OK, but will look elsewhere when we return. They do have a complimentary breakfast, the scrambled eggs were cold, the sausage not great, danish and muffins seemed stale. No microwave to heat up any of the food, but it was OK for free! They don't have enough room for the guests to sit and eat, I think the breakfast must have been an afterthought by a new owner because where you eat is an added Sun Room that seated only 10 people.

Room Tip: Not sure, this is a pet friendly hotel, so beware of guests with animals, ask for a 2nd floor room...
