“Atmosphere, not much else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

The Palace bills itself as "America's oldest saloon." It doesn't get more authentically Old West than the Palace. Other than that, the menu is basically comfort food, preparation is average, and service can be good. Good place to take visitors, as long as they're not overexpecting.

“Palace Restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Pretentious and overpriced with a menu hardly fitting a "Western" city. Atmosphere is good but service is terrible. We have friends look in to see the old bar and then leave.

“Historic Restraunt”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

It is beautiful inside, so much history and wood. You are walking into and old Whiskey Row Saloon. They have great service and food. I have eaten there many times with a big group and they always take care of us like VIP's. The catfish is good, the buffalo burgers are yummy and I have to say all the food is great. They have homemade cobblers and a mile high cake that the whole table can eat.

“There's a good reason that the Palace is one of the worst-rated restauarants in town”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

Went to the Palace restaurant for dinner. Interesting, well-restored old west décor. Bar was quaint. Went into restaurant section for dinner. Fairly expensive menu, for a place serving plain steakhouse-style food. Ordered well-done steaks. Service was terribly slow. Despite the long wait, the food was delivered cold. Indifferent staff. Sent it back. After another long wait, very rare steaks were brought instead. Sent them back. For third attempt, got another order of rare steaks, again cold. Walked out in disgust. Agree with other tripadvisor raters that this place is a tourist trap. Bar was quaint and might be a good place for drinks only, but Texas Roadhouse down the street offers a far better meal and good service for less money.

“fun place for dinner on whiskey row”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

What a fun place! Very authentic Western atmosphere with tons of photos on the walls showing interesting history of the old wild West. Very roomy with great ambiance. The service was spectacular - our waiter was attentive, funny, charming, and exceptionally good. The food was a bit disappointing. My wife and I split a chicken fajita plate that barely had enough fixing (salsa, cheese, etc.) and only three small tortillas. When we asked for a couple more fajitas, we were surprised with a charge on the bill. Ridiculous. Our guests plates also had very small portions for the price. It's still a fun place to go but be prepared for relatively expensive prices for small portions of food.
