I can't say enough great things about the Motor Lodge. For starters, the owners are the most gracious hosts you'll ever find. We were greeted like old friends, and offered a glass of wine as we checked in (which we enjoyed on our little private patio). We brought our son with us, and as we entered our room we discovered a pack-and-play all set up with cozy bedding, and even one of his favorite books set inside it. Oh, and an Etch-a-Sketch to keep him entertained (which we will now have to purchase). :) My husband appreciated the humorous reading material in the bathroom, while I most enjoyed the free Wi-Fi and the kitchenette. The owners said the building has been there forever, but they have done a ton of remodeling and have modernized all the rooms while sustaining the character of its age. They were explaining some of their future projects, and I can't wait to come back and see the progress.
Joe and Brian gave great recommendations on coffee houses and restaurants, and Joe even offered us a ride downtown in their retro orange pickup truck, with their funky logo on the side. I really wanted to cruise around downtown in that thing, but my son freaked out about riding in the back, so we couldn't take advantage of the offer. :(
Sometimes I feel like small hotels dislike families, but we felt so welcome and my son certainly enjoyed himself.
