There surely isn't more fun you could get for ten bucks. The big signs on the highway shout out to you on I-10 from Phoenix to Tucson. Pull in to the dusty parking lot for Rooster to greet you into this working ostrich ranch set at the base of picacho peak. You get to ride with twenty others holding onto their cameras and sunglasses on a giant truck with monster wheels, four wheeling through the 'mini grand canyon'. The ride lasts forty-five minutes. Definitely sit at the very back to get the most 'air'. You get to see a gazillion ostrich, laying eggs, picking a fight, stikcing their head in the sand. Our guide was completely crazy fun and there were stops along the way to stare at huge saguaro, jumping cactus and the like. At the end you get to stand on a high platform and 'fish' for ostrich using orange slices as bait. Cant do that anywhere else. All in all this was a blast, hard to beat for ten dollars.

A quick, fun stop between Tucson and Phoenix is the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch (-) at exit 219 on Interstate 10 (you can't miss the signs). A nominal admission scores you a rather big bag of feed, and the ostriches have their eye on that bag the minute you step through the gate. They are fearsome but entertaining eaters; when you try to throw the feed into the provided pans half the time they catch it in their mouths before it even hits the pan. It's just amazing to see so many of them in one spot. Nearby are much gentler deer that will eat the same feed right out of your hand. A bunch of ostrich things are for sale there, and my 13-year-old spent more souvenir money there than anyplace else in Arizona. (The ostrich egg even made it home on the plane in one piece.)
