“Ambiance and Happy Hour make up for the food . . .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

Get to Roy's after 4 p.m. for Happy Hour (in time to get a table outside - there was entertainment on Friday the night we were there) and try their special martini - The Original Hawaiian Martini. Very tasty - not very alcoholic (I had two and usually that would put me on my ear . . . no problem with these though). Careful . . . we made reservations to sit outside and partake in happy hour but were told since we made reservations we couldn't have happy hour prices . . . HUH? This made no sense and since we pushed the issue they allowed us to order happy hour drinks. We totally did not get this - so if we "walked" in we could and since we were staying for dinner and planned ahead with reservations we couldn't????

Moving on, my seared scallops weren't seared - disappointing. BUT, the upside down pineapple cake was worth the wait. You have to order this when ordering dinner and it was delicious. We tried the chocolate cake that took extra time and two other desserts. All were good and served with yummy homemade ice cream.

Our Server, Eva, was very attentive and made the evening enjoyable.

“Good food, but the overall experience not all that!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Food was very good but entree portions very very small (that's coming from me, you can only imagine how small my husband thought they were). Appetizers were more portion for the price and very good. We were there in a party of 10, seated inside for a later dinner together. Service was slow and not that great. Seemed rather uncaring, in no hurry and rare to check back and see if you needed anything. Try their Butterfish, it was fantastic.

“Consistently good quality and taste”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

I have been to their locations in Hawaii and it is nice to see they keep up their standards on th mainland. Attentive service and great quality food.
Check out their happy hour specials. You could make a meal out of the appetizers!
A bit pricey....but they are catering to the resort crowd.

“poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Good food, POOR service. The wine we ordered was never served with our meal, no server in sight during meal. Heavy drinking, loud, group of men were seated next to us, when there were many empty tables away from others that they could be seated at. Couldn't enjoy our meal, never mind have a conversation. Servers could learn from those at Tuscany, who are IMPECCABLE!

“Best Happy Hour!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

We LOVED the happy hour here!! Our favorites were the Sushi and the Sliders! My husband loved the Mai ti! Everything on the happy hour menu is $6 from 3-6! Ask to sit on the patio--it's very romantic! And for dessert--try the pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream--it's worth the 20 minute wait!!
