“Delightfully average”

La Quinta Inn Phoenix North

I stayed here on business and was happy to find a decent place to stay for under $100 in the high season. This is an average place but with little niceties that made me enjoy the one night stay. My room was clean, the staff was friendly and helped me when I had trouble connecting to the internet. Breakfast had a nice spread including make your own waffles and the typical cereal, oatmeal, toast, pastries, bagels, etc... The grounds were pleasant, with fountains and a pool and the neighborhood felt safe. My only complaint was that some patrons were being loud at a late hour, but it sounded like the staff dealt with the situation. The hotel wasn't really close to anything (except the airport), but not too far from downtown, Tempe, and Scottsdale where I was heading. I'd stay here again if I ever go to Phoenix.

Great economical motel. I booked based on some other reviews from some other Website, where it got good reviews. You also have to understand that I spent the 4 previous nights at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge, so this was quite a change, however, I found the rooms clean, new paint and new carpet, The first night I found out that I did not have heat at about 11pm and I called the desk and told them I did not want to move. They immediately took 50% off, which I thought was generous. I then moved the next night to a bigger room with a king bed and the room had a microwave and refrig. Now, my girlfriend gets here tonight and she is used to something like the JW and I wonder what she will say. She best not say much or she can pay the difference and move us. The La Quinta also has a nice pool area and is in a nice middle class neighborhood where I went jogging this morning. I was very happy here.

This place was just fine. We stayed 2 nights and returned home today (Dec. 3 2006). It is your average motel. Clean, quiet enough, and no problems. Very convienient to I17 and all of Phoenix.

I can't even begin to describe what happened here in our 7 hour stay, but this hotel should be stripped of it's La Quinta brand because of the condition of the property and the experience of staying there. It was more like an S.R.O. on Skid Row than anything else. We felt afraid and the behavior of the security detail made us feel worse. It was very scary to stay here. The hotel does have criminal activity and the police were there during our very short stay. The ad also claimed "newly remodeled" which is why we chose it from a coupon book while we were still 120 miles away. When we got there, the place was filthy - especially the exterior - and not "remodeled." The door didn't shut snuggly, so it was like trying to sleep in a toll booth on the interstate. If I stood up and put my weight against the door, then most of the noise stopped. We didn't sleep at all. The next morning when I insisted that no one else could be put in that room until the door was fixed, the maintenence man dismissively said "they're all like that." Also, when we arrived they wouldn't honor the coupon price because they said it "was a holiday" - even though it was early/mid December and the coupon was valid December 1 through February. After we saw the room, they wouldn't let us check out and we were too tired to start driving again to look for another place after driving 15 hours. This hotel should be shut down.

“Avoid this hotel!”

I have stayed at Motel 6s that are nicer than this place. The front desk staff and management are all rude. The rooms are worn. Its also quite scary staying here. The hotel appears as if its full of low lifes, hookers, druggies, etc plus the police were sometimes at the hotel multiple times during the day. Spend more money and stay at some place safe.
