“Comfortable and Convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Dates of stay: 12/20/12 to 12/24/12

The Hampton Inn proved to be as convenient a location as any in the Phoenix downtown / midtown area. Located only two blocks west of the Thomas Rd. / Central Ave. Light Rail station, getting around the city of Phoenix including the airport could not be easier. St Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center dominates the area which includes a scattering of other hotels and good restaurants.

The hotel is fashionable, almost boutique in size and style. The small lounge area off the lobby acts as meeting space and dining room for the good continental breakfast and also provides access to the north-side, winter shaded outdoor pool. Coffee, filtered water and computer access is available in the lobby 24/7.

High ceilings and bright pastel colors are found in hallways and in guest rooms which are nicely furnished for the short visit. Our room was comfortable, clean and well provisioned including an extra blankets for the freezing Phoenix weather! A small refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave were included in the room. The hotel also includes free, password protected WiFi. If I were to find anything less than ideal I would suggest the wardrobe is perhaps a bit small and the bed a bit hard but overall we were more than satisfied during our stay.

As suggested, the Hampton Inn provides a very good continental breakfast. In addition to offering on-site breakfast, the Inn also has ‘breakfast bags’ available at the front desk for travelers on the go. The hotel’s fitness center includes a modern elliptical, bike and treadmill as well as exercise balls and a hand-full of free weights, all of which we used during our weekend stay.

Overall the Hampton Inn provides a solid value for a stay in Phoenix. For those feeling a bit more adventurous and wanting a true boutique experience I would also suggest the Clarendon and its attached restaurant, which we discovered while staying at the Hampton.

Room Tip: During our winter stay we had a north-facing room which got very little sun. This is the side of the...

This was the 1st time I stayed at this Hampton. I picked it because of it's location as I had an 8:30am appointment at Arizona Heart Institute the following morning. At check in, I asked the clerk for a 6:30am wake up call. I saw her write the time down on a pad but I don't know what happened after that as I never received ANY wake up call. Fortunately, I woke around 4:30am & unable to fall asleep again, just dosing on & off. I found it rather pointless to comment about the Non wake up call as the person at the desk gave an appearence of minamal interest. This is an average Hampton, comfortable bed, good breakfast, but definately located in a very busy area & I also felt it was a bit over priced. In all probability, I would never stay here again.

Room Tip: I always prefer a room away from the elevators

We want to thank you for your comments regarding the Hampton Inn-Phoenix/Midtown. We want to apologize about not receiving your wake up call. We have had a few problems with our wake up call system not working properly and we had to re-set a card in the system. We do take wake up calls very seriously and want everyone to receive their calls.

Hopefully, you will give us another chance and stay with us again in the near future.

Clean, updated, nice people. Self laundry, cookies at checkin, walk to Starbucks, hospitals, area tram. Free breakfast and parking. You just can't beat the Hampton Inn and the people who work here are super nice and helpful.

Tea, coffee and several varieties of warm cookies in the lobby upon arrival after a looong travel day. Immaculate room with the most comfortable bed I've had since a Ritz Carlton. Friendly employees and very efficient. Elevators were quick, ample, free parking and breakfast as advertised. The breakfast staff continually wiped, restocked and paid attention.
Convenient to restaurants.
Bathroom had granite countertop, abundant towels, the usual lotions/soaps and was a good size. There was even a night light so navigating in the middle of the night was easy.
Early morning staff had my bill prepared at the front dersk so I was on my way in seconds.
I have never stayed at a Hampton Inn before and this experience won me over.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet side since there's a helicpoter Flight for Life nextdoor at the hospital. Ne...

The Hotel is located on the grounds of the St Joseph Hospital (right across the street) with a strip mall that has three restaurants in the mall. We came to Phoenix so my wife could have surgery by a Neurosurgeon from the Borrows Neurological institute (part of the hospital). The location of the hotel was perfect. I could stay there when she was in the hospital and she started her recovery in the hotel. The hotel was very quiet and the staff was great. The rooms were as the pictures showed on the web site. We would definitely stay there again, hopefully for a different reason

Central location - right off the rail, nice (warm) little pool and hot tub. Free breakfast - much better than the usual offering for a continental (good oatmeal with toppings, eggs, potatoes, etc..). Free WiFi (easy to use), free parking. Location felt quite safe and I didn't worry about our vehicle. Room was clean and nicely updated. Beds were very comfy and clean. Paid around $65 for our room including all taxes!! Oh, and since it's right next to the hospital, we got to watch the helicopter take off and land multiple times while in the pool - our kids thought that was fantastic - but I didn't hear the helicopter (or any other noise, really) from the inside of our room. Will probably book here every time we stay in the valley from now on.

Stayed here one night for a Dbacks game. A very safe five minute walk to the light rail system (very clean by the way) that drops you off right at the stadium. Room price was reasonable with free parking. Location and room were clean and breakfast was fine for a continental offering. Intend on staying here when I return. Front desk staff were friendly and genuinely interested in helping you see the city.
