“The Renaissance is a good convention hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

The Renaisssance is an easy two block walk from the convention center in downtown Phoenix. During my 5 night stay, the room was comfortable and very spacious. The bed was comfortable. My only complaints are that the room lighting was very dim and that the hotel charged $27 per day for parking.

Unless you plan to spend all of your time at the convention center or other meetings, there is not much to do downtown. The trolley is convenient but it really doesn't travel anywhere useful from downtown. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but if you want to eat something other than average over-priced food, then drive to some other part of town.

Thanks for your feedback, we value it highly. I'm sorry you didn't find things to do while in downtown Phoenix. We have live theater, major sporting events, concert venues, night clubs, bowling, comedy clubs and tons of restaurants - please be sure to ask our Navigators for advice on what's happening while you're here!

I would not return to this property. The rooms were small and dark. The housekeeping left a lot to be desired...the same dustball stayed on the floor by my door during my entire stay. They did some ultra modern decor in the rooms that just did not work for me.
I did enjoy the concierge lounge. the service was great, breakfasts ample and snacks quite tasty.
Some of the front desk staff were helpful others were not...just not a property I would return to.

Please accept our apology for the condition of your room during your stay with us. And I'm sorry you found the room small and dark - our windows take up almost an entire wall, and have the cool cheese grater sun guard. I'm glad you enjoyed Elevate Lounge, it is the best concierge lounge you'll find anywhere! We hope you'll give us another try. Thanks,

Stayed on the 19th floor with access to club lounge. Pamela and Ben are the best representatives for your establishment. Both went out of their way to make us feel like we were at home! Went for breakfast each morning. We were always greeted with a smile and warm welcome!

This hotel is right downtown, you can walk easily to numerous restaurants. The hotel itself is very nice and has the most decorated lobby and conference center I have ever seen. Tastefully done as well. Sleeping rooms were very nice, only complaint was the beds were a bit hard.
The impressive thing about this hotel, and was remarked about by everyone in my group, was the attention customer service. Just phenomenal. If you walked across the lobby a staff person would ask if you need help with anything. One of the escalators broke during our conference, they stationed someone at the top and bottom of the other escalator- which also had to be turned off- to direct people and help those who could not handle the stairs by getting them to a back elevator. When the morning session was over, they turned on the one escalator to get everyone down quickly, then reversed it temporarily right before the afternoon session to get people back to their sessions.
We had an evening event in a reception area that was a bit hard to locate - and the hotel put staff all along the route to make sure everyone got to the reception easily. Due to the escalator problem-which can't be helped- the hotel provided a very nice break for free for our group-- and a number of staff were on both levels of the conference center to make sure everyone knew about the free refreshments. The hotel management is to be applauded for delivering such amazing service. As I said, it wasn't just me that noticed this 5 star level of service- everyone I was with did as well. (And having stayed at a couple of 5 star hotels, they could not hold a candle to this hotel in terms of overall customer service). Oh, and our room rate was amazing too.

I stayed here for business as our company was hosting a reception & dinner at the hotel. The customer service was among the best I've ever received. From the doormen to the concierge to check-in, it was all top-notch. The food quality and bar service was also excellent. The rooms are well appointed and are very clean.

The fitness center was being remodeled, but the hotel had an arrangement with a Gold's Gym just one block away that granted guests free access. Fantastic!!

I will definitely stay here again.

The hotel and service were good. Location was easy walking to several restaurants and shopping. Lobby was bright and airy. Good refreshing place to charge up for another day of business. Parking was $17/night.

I stopped by the hotel, which is around the corner from my office, to book a room for myself and my girlfriend to celebrate our first anniversary. I first spoke with Tim, the Navigator on duty that morning, and he was very helpful in getting me started. Kara, at the front desk, was not only exceptionally pleasant and courteous, she arranged for a bottle of wine to be waiting for us with a charming note that she herself penned. The room was beautful, well appointed, and quiet; the beds very comfortable; the view of downtown Phoenix lovely; the wine delicious. For the price I paid for the room, I absolutely feel we got a tremendous deal. The entire experience, from beginning to end, could not have gone better or more smoothly. Tim and Kara, especially, were tremendous and deserve as much recognition and accolades as the company can give them. Because of them and their efforts to make sure our anniversary celebration was as wonderful as it was, we will be staying there again.
