“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2009

Met a group of friends here recently. The staff was very knowledgeable about their wines and the wine prices were reasonable. The food was excellent! We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful Phoenix weather.

“Good food, excellent costumer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2009

This place is a wonderful happy hour location. I have been there numerous time with coworkers for happy hour and just love their prices for drinks. Make sure to try their martinis and nothing beats discounted glasses of wine. I have always received excellent costumer service, especially from one waiter named Todd. On my last visit, he not only went above and beyond making sure all our food came out the way we ordered it but he wasn't annoyed when it took about a half and hour for the whole group to get to the restaurant. All in all, I say check out this gem of a restaurant located off the light rail.

“Awful service ruined any possible positive experience...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2008

My best friend, hubby, and I went to this wine bar and restaurant. The 3 of us very much enjoy good wine, good food, and good company and we were interested in trying a "new" place. On the Cheuvront website that day, they exclaimed they had specials -- food, wine, and martini specials -- in honor of the light rail opening. So, we decided this would be the place!

Unfortunately, our waitress was just awful. When we asked about the specials, she said there weren't any. That should have been our first clue. When we asked her about the website, she said she had to ask her manager. That should have been another clue. When she returned, her attitude was curt. Her behavior made us so feel so uncomfortable we found ourselves laughing, nervously. We squirmed in our seats, but we stayed.

We each ordered a wine and cheese flight and mentioned that that would be "just for starters" and we planned on staying for dinner. I could go on and on about how her service never improved and how her scornful attitude was completely unacceptable, but...

When she plopped the bill on our table, mumbled something like, "here this is", and abruptly turned and walked away -- without asking how things were, or if we wanted anything else, or even if we were through -- we could hardly believe it. We now felt like we could hardly wait to get out of there! We had been made to feel utterly unwelcome. We had asked for nothing special, nor any special treatment. We had already spent nearly $80 in 45 minutes and had planned on staying for dinner - despite the churlish service -- until the bill came, so suddenly.

To make matters worse, when she was not satisfied with her tip, she had the NERVE to come out and accost us in the parking lot! She sarcastically asked, "Did you forget something?" in reference to the tip. Um, no. Service was ungracious and the tip reflects as such. Not quite sure if she wanted to stand there and keep discussing and embarrass herself further, but we got in our cars and left. We called each other on our cell phones. My friend was visibly shaken and none of us could believe what had just happened.

That waitress didn't care about our horrible experience. All she cared about was her tip (WAY too late!) If she had cared about us, the customers, she should have said she noticed that we left a very small tip and she was wondering where her service was lacking. But no. Through her rude behavior she made it blatantly obvious that she was only interested in herself and not the customer.

Some of you, if you've stayed with me and read this far, may be wondering why we didn't talk to the manager. Think about it. What would you have done? Seriously. If you had been made to feel so unwelcome, so uncomfortable, by a person's behavior that you found yourself and your friends laughing, nervously... And, despite the lack of, service, you still planned on staying for dinner... That was, until she brought the bill. It was so final. We had been made to feel so unwanted and such a bother that we could hardly wait to get out of there. And so, we left. At this point, there was nothing the manager could do to "fix" anything. The damage had been done and the decision to leave had been made. There was no opportunity to make amends -- we had not been given an opportunity!

Especially in these financially difficult times, this lack of service is unacceptable. There are too many good choices for dinner in Phoenix. Should one bad service experience warrant a "do not go here" comment? That's for you to decide. We vowed never to return.

By the way, the waitress never did tell us her name.

“Great food, service and wine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2008

We are always looking for a new "spot" and tend to stick to wine bars. We found this place just next to the new lightrail on Central Ave. in Phoenix. Making a stop for dinner before First Friday, I cannot say enough good things about this place! Our server, Jeremiah, gave great pairing recommendations and was knowledgeable on the wine selections (so good in fact we purchased a bottle to take home!). The service was not quick and that's just the way we like it! Dinner should be an experience. If you want "fast food" this is not the place for you. Order a bottle of wine and an apitizer, slow down and enjoy it! We will definitely be going here again soon. Try the spanish cheese plate and monastrell!
