If odd is your thing, and you have no qualms about comfort, then maybe this is the place to stay. Being that I can get poor pillows, uncomfortable beds, and a very noisy air conditioner for a fraction of the price I will not be staying at the Artisan again, even if I were going to ignore the bizarre decor and creepy ambiance.

My wife and I stayed for several nights, luckily a busy schedule kept us away for most of the time. booking the room as part of a package deal. Having no real expectations, good or bad, I went in with an open mind. Waiting in the lobby as we checked in reminded me of being in a bastardized version of Interview with a Vampire; darkly gothic and vaguely erotic, but neither in the hip nor sexy sort of way. Maybe Disney's haunted masion, with a little sprinkling of soft porn, is a more fitting description.

On our floor, the black carpet, black trim, against a cream and fish-net wall was amply decorated with lusty style of "art". With none of the grace of a muesum, the paintings on the wall left an impression of a cheap immitation... probably because it was. At best I can only say the motif of the room was no better.

The comfort of the room was even less impressive than it's visual aspects. The pillows lacked even enough substance to be called lumpy. The bed was more comfortable than the floor, but only barely. The air conditioner, which I admit kept the room nice and cool, was so loud that it made getting up in the morning easy (you know, the "I'm so tried from being woken up all through the night I can't even sleep in" feeling).

I must confess, however. There was always adequate parking in the front. Even on the last night when a police car was blocking several spots, we were always able to park. Was it because of the other guests got scared and left, I can't not say.

All and all, we didn't walk away and leave... but only because the room was prepaid and we lacked the energy in dealing with the hassel. Would I recommend this hotel? Only if I don't like you.

Being a Flight Attendant I stay at many many hotels. This one was the worst I have EVER been in. The hotel charged an extra 91.00$ to my credit card but had no record of doing do. The manager was not helpful at all in finding a resolution to the problem. It still hasnt been resolved. The pool is ice cold and the jacuzzi is broken. One of the front desk personel came to the pool area and asked us for cigarettes 4 times! My suggestion is stay clear and dont stay here! The Clerendon Hotel down the street is an obvious alternate. I would rather stay in a tent at a pig farm before staying here again.

This place is surreal! Our room was very nicely decorated,,,and that is the only good thing I can say positively about the place. Lobby was way too dark and they need to rethink the art they have there...I love art, but it has it place and suggestive nudes do not belong in a hotel lobby IMO. The staff was VERY indifferant and downright unfriendly! I think the owners should have waited til the place was revamped because now it has received so many bad reviews, it will be hard to overcome! Case in point, they ran out of creamer and sweet and low at the coffee area.....I asked if they had anymore and they said their coffee man had not been in lately, I said there was a Safeway 3 blocks away, and they just looked at me, as if to say so what. Hotwire really flubbed this one...they even gave ne a 231$ refund, because the amenities they had listed did not exist..

This was by far the worse hotel I have every stayed in.. The first two night we did not have air conditiong and when we asked the staff to fixed it, they said they would get someone to look at it. No one ever came.. We finilly got another room. That had a very Bad smell to it. ( like it was just old)... The art work was horriable.. Nude pictures everywhere.. The beds were uncomfortable. (springs were popping out of the side) The staff keep saying that they were sorry that we were un happy but did nothing about it... This was not a 3 star hotel not even a 1... wisconsin

This hotel is listed as a boutique hotel only because most of the rooms are not fit to rent.
The restaurant is closed. Pool is really cold. Does not have a fitness room.
Do not take family! They do not state that there are bad nude pictures on the ceilings and wall in lobby, in room and in all the hallways. I do not think any of the hotel sites have ever been there. Hotwire really blew it this time. They could not have ever checked this out. The staff even stated that they wish they would tell the truth on the sites so people would quit hollering at them.

There is no place in this hotel where you could take a family-friendly photo
