I took my family to Spring Break in Phoenix this year and the absolute highlight of the trip was the time we spent at the Canyon Creek Ranch. We did the full adventure package. My family, including sons ages 8, 9, and 10, had the opportunity to experience a trail ride on horseback, a jeep ride through the desert, skeet shooting, roping, axe throwing, pistol shooting, and an evening cowboy cookout. Initially, I thought it was a little on the pricey side, but after the day was done and I looked back on all of the experiences we had, it was well worth it.

Getting to the ranch was interesting. We followed one of the ranch hands from the highway exit to the ranch. On the way in, we weren't too sure what we were in for, but after getting there and spending the afternoon - it was all good.

The ranch hands were excellent - picking appropriate horses for my family and telling colorful stories about the land and the cowboy life. They were very careful with the guns and explained gun safety the way I learned from my father and grandfather. Everyone we met at the ranch were good people that were very interested in giving my family an awesome experience.

We did many fun things on our vacation, but this western adventure was the highlight of the trip for my family.

Canyon Creek Ranch was absolutely wonderful. We took our 4 kids, ages 8-13, on a trail ride through the desert. The scenery was beautiful and the staff very accomodating. After the ride we played the cowboy games. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a taste of the old west!

The Canyon Creek Ranch that I experienced is 30 or so miles north of Phx near Black Canyon city. My kids and I went for a horse back ride, where after crossing a small creek we stopped at an old west town where they had an old time saloon and around the town area my 9 and 10 year olds had an opportunity to throw axes, ropes and shoot live pistols. It was amazing and in the middle of nowhere. Best outing we have ever had together.
