“Amazing time even for timid riders”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

This was probably one of the best times we have had on a vacation, anywhere in the world. The actual horseback ride was great. We had one semi-experienced rider and one very timid rider and we both had an amazing ride. Plan to spend at least an hour in the town playing games and learning more about the desert. The ranchers and all the staff could not be more friendly. My only advice is not to get a car wash before you visit the ranch, the drive to get there is a bit adventurous itself. They also have plenty of sunblock and water sitting out for you, in case you forget to bring enough. The lunch was great and plenty of cold drinks available.

“Best Experience of our Entire Vacation!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Our hotel recommended this for "horse riding" but it was so much more! Jim(the owner) and Greg were our guides and could not have been more accommodating, informative and fun. My boys were nervous about riding the horses but they made them feel and ease and very safe. My daughter is a rider but they fit every individual need. The ride was beautiful, started at 4:30 and perfect weather and spectacular scenery. Lots of information for us "city slickers". Then you end in a "Western Town" that was created by the owner. Unbelievable. We learned how to throw an ax, lasso a steer and the topper was shooting a gun. The attention to detail cannot be described! My kids were in heaven. The topper was the delicious dinner cooked outside cowboy style and it was delicious. Rusty had so much patience in teaching my kids how to lasso the "steer". Gimpy, our driver, was great too! We never felt rushed like they had to go anywhere, just wanted to make sure we had a great time. We did, of course! My kids are already asking when we can go back and we have only been home two days!

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

We have just had a great morning out at Cold Water Creek Ranch. I am a convert now to Western style riding.
There were 4 of us, my husband has never ridden before and my two children are able to ride but not experienced. The horses were very well trained, calm and gentle. All were in fantastic condition and our wrangler Rich was very keen that they were well looked after.
Rich was informative about the local area and really looked after us.

The lunch was delicious, the chicken cooked very well and plenty to eat.

If you are thinking of one thing to do whilst visiting this area, this is the thing to do. Four very happy customers!

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

All the other reviews were dead-on! Great people, tons of fun and we learned a lot about the desert life. Joe C was our guide and he's full of great info & a bit of a prankster. Our son (11) loved this and he's never expressed any interest in this type of thing. It's a quick drive and worth the time!

“Great time for a family!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

This was our second visit, and we were so glad we came back. We have 3 kids, ages 12, 12 and 9, and this is one of their favorite things to do when we are in AZ for springbreak. We stay in Scottsdale and it's only a 45 minute drive.....well worth it. Zach was our "cowboy" this year, and kept us highly entertained on our trail ride and in the western town. Once you arrive in the town, they immediately offer you beer, soda or water and then you are guided through all the fun activities.....horse shoes, ax throwing, bull roping, pistol shooting and archery. We went late in the afternoon and paid for the dinner. Well worth the cost. We had delicious cheeseburgers, but they also offered steak or chicken. All the sides were homemade...potato salad, coleslaw, chili...and then apple pie, cupcakes or cookies for dessert. Seriously....so good! I would highly recommend going.
