stayed for a weekend - hotel is starting to show its age and use - clean, quiet -

bathroom sink backed up, staff there in less than 5 minutes to address it - only problem was that all night long the sound of water backflowing from somewhere else into our bathroom sink pipe was going on as well -

I think it's time to upgrade this place - maybe some new paint, new sinks (ours had a crack in it) - overall, an OK place to stay if you want to be near the airport -

I've stayed here several times and overall the experience is OK to above average - oh yes, they also need more than one person at the front desk during high-usage checkout time -

my compliments to Michele, a very nice front desk person - but she needs more help, especially when you have several people checking out all at once in a hurry to get to the airport -

“Nothing special”

San Diego, California

We got this hotel for $70 a night on Priceline. We only stayed here one night. We drove here from San Diego after being in SD for 5 nights. We wish we stayed in SD. Phoenix is extremely boring, with nothing to do. The downtown area is filled with homeless people and just very dull. We will definitely not be returning to Phoenix ever again. San Diego is amazing.

As for the hotel, it's in the airport zone, so it's convenient if you have a flight to catch, but didn't matter for us. If you're not used to hearing planes all night, you might have trouble sleeping. The staff is very friendly and check in was quick. There is no hot water in the shower, it only gets lukewarm. The beds are very uncomfortable (sleep number). Many people like sleep number beds but I find them to be very uncomfortable. There is a fitness center that consists of 2 elliptical trainers, a treadmill and some machine that's supposed to simulate weight training. Would have been better if they put a rack of dumbells in the place of the machine. The pool was still open, but we didn't use it since it's freezing here. Overall, if you're coming to Phoenix for a vacation, I would seriously reconsider another location, like San Diego. But if you're just driving through like we did, you can see that there really is nothing to see.

“Nice rooms, good restaurant”

We stayed at the Radisson Hotel Phoenix Airport North on 44th St. using United travel vouchers. The hotel was very nice, and we used two rooms, one with two double beds, and one with a king size bed. All had sleep number beds, which we had not used before and were very comfortable, although not as comfortable as memory foam. My 12 year old daughter enjoyed adjusting the bed! The hotel is in an area that is not too far from the airport, but it is not within walking distance to any restaurants, so you’re stuck with the hotel restaurant if you don’t have a car. However, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was very good. We were able to call a free hotel shuttle from the airport, although they gave very unclear directions to where to meet the hotel shuttle, talking about a blue diamond that we couldn’t find. From terminal 2 (United) go out from baggage area and all the way down the baggage area sidewalk to the right, until you’re out from under the covered area. Don’t cross over the traffic to the rental car shuttle area. Also used small fitness room, only a few pieces of equipment for lifting weights, but treadmill worked fine. Didn’t have a chance to try the outdoor pool. There was free internet service on a computer in the lobby which was handy for checking on flight times.

We stayed two separate times during October. My observations:

1. SHUTTLE: If you stay at the Radisson near the airport and call for a shuttle, MAKE SURE you tell the driver you are staying at the Radisson Airport North. There are two Radisson hotels near the airport, and the driver did not ask us about which hotel we were registered--we had no idea there were two of them!

When the shuttle arrived (after two calls), he took us to the WRONG Radisson hotel. I would have normally just stayed at the hotel where we were taken, but since I booked a special deal, I was obligated to stay at Radisson Airport North. The driver then did not want to drive us to the correct hotel. After 45 minutes of waiting at the"other" Radisson, his manager convinced him to take us to the Airport North.

2. SHUTTLE PART 2: There is no 24 hour free shuttle at this hotel. They begin the shuttle service at 5 am, so if you have a 6 am flight you better plan on spending $15 for a 3 mile taxi ride.

3. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The second time I stayed here the front desk clerk was outside smoking a cigarette. After 5 minutes of puffing away he showed up and checked us in.

While I don't have a degree in Hotel Management, I thought this was unacceptable---especially since he was in full view of the front desk from his smoking area outside.

3. ROOMS: Clean and comfortable. The rooms come with a "Sleep Number" bed so you can adjust the bed to your liking.

4. BREAKFAST BUFFET/RESTAURANT/LOUNGE: It wasn't free, but the breakfast buffet had a good selection of hot and cold food. Service in the restaurant (both dinner and breakfast) was good. The lounge also had good, attentive staff.

While the rooms were comfortable and I genuinely liked the restaurant and its staff, those components don't make up for waiting 45 minutes for a shuttle driver to take us to the correct hotel or a front desk clerk who attaches more importance to his cigarette than his job. I'll be going to Phoenix several times per year, but will probably choose a different hotel.

We wanted a hotel close to the airport followinga latish arrival at Phoenix from London. Following a very long delay at Immigration because their computers had crashed we finally reached the hotel at about 8 p.m. Parking was plentiful and check in very efficient. We were very please with the size and cleanliness of our room. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Room service arrived within the promised 20 minutes and the food was very good. Check out the following morning was equally swift.

All in all this hotel is highly recommended by us.
