“middle of the pack”

some stadia age well, fenway, for example, or any number of minor-league parks... but phoenix muny seems a little shopworn and there's a general ennui... still, as woody allen once said about sex, bad baseball is the second best thing in the world

“Sit on the first base side for a great view”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

The hills of Papago Park sit just a short distance beyond the left field fence and are a gorgeous backdrop for this stadium. But do you risk going to a day game when the hills are visible all day but there is no shade, or do you go at night when the darkness hides the hills by the 5th inning but the temps are so much more comfortable? Many seats are aluminum benches as opposed to seats and the food selection is very ordinary. I like that the foundation of the park itself seems to be carved out of the hills. There's not much within walking distance, aside from Papago Park and the Hall of Flame museum, although a short drive will take you into Tempe.

“Favorite Spring Training Ballpark”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Great location.Walking distance from Priest Avenue from the light rail stop. After the fifth inning , the management opens the gates and you can walk in and look for a seat.Just a nice place to watch a game. This ballpark is the way Spring Training used to be.

“First ever Spring Training Game”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Though my parents and I had a great time at a Seattle/A's Spring Training game, I can see why they are moving in a couple of years to a new spring training home. The food selection is just OK, prices are good and parking is close. But, after attending a Giants game at Scottsdale Stadium, I can see why the A's want to move. This wonderful, historic facility cannot hold a candle to what some of the newer venues have to offer. Do I want a hot dog at a ball game, YES!!! Does my family (not the big baseball fan I am) want more offerings, YES. Is it nice to walk around the whole staduim during the game, YES. But, we will try to make it down for a game next Spring Training and look forward to the new digs the year after that!
