Long time friends have been talking about this place for years and finally got us there. It is true, as others say, this is not a tourist neighborhood but I have seen more improbable settings for excellent restaurants.
Positives: the artwork is nice; table side guacamole preparation particularly if you are nontraditional in your ideas of how it goes i.e. pomegranate seeds mixed in; sweet potato or something similar with my dinner; attitude of staff
Neither positive nor negative: mixed drinks, beer and wine, nothing exceptional but no real complaints; salsa, bread, chips; Mayan pork on my dinner;
Not so good: my pork would have been better without half of a raw onion on top and without zucchini; my wife had a seafood enchilada and it was a strong fishy flavor with a watery sauce; help was nice when present but not very attentive which friends assured me is unusual.
I have a hard time accepting this very high rating. Doesn't seem to me to be appropriate. Not awful but a great restaurant needs to offer more.
It isn't close to Scottsdale. Not worth the drive. Not likely we will be back.
