Description: Avanti, a Valley tradition since 1974. . . Dramatic, crisp black and white interiors, candlelight and a quiet atmosphere. Vegetarians and Seafood lovers will be awed by the selections of homemade pasta from deliciously light Gnocchi Alfredo, Eggplant and Meat Lasagna, to seasonal hand crafted Ravioli. Fresh Fish and seafood dishes vary- from a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail to an Italian crafted Cioppino. Avanti has also garnered numerous awards and accolades for our Ossobucco, said to be the best in town as well as robust steaks and chops (lamb and pork).Enjoy dessert and Cappuccino in the piano bar sweets that are carefully guarded family recipes include, Tiramisu, Cannoli, Creme Brulee with a crunchy burnt sugar crust but if your passionate about chocolate the chocolate mousse is infused with rum and whipped so fluffy and light you'll swear it's heaven sent!

if the "ratpack" were still alive and together they would undoubtedly eat here when in arizona.. the 50/60,s decor is really dated but the food very very good...appetizers and salads are ok ..predictable.. but the pastas memorable and main courses exquisite...the dover sole is a whole 16-18oz fish delivered whole to the table ..the veal milanesa is wonderful ..the real thing! a 6 inch round , on the bone pounded breaded veal chop topped with an arugula /tomato salad...the osso buco authentic with saffron risooto....the owner angelo livi comes to arizona via the caribbean and of course italy...a congeniial man who knows his food....the wine list is excellent from tignanellos, barolos to brunellos...per dolce solo mancava una crostata ricotta siciliana e vino santo...

“Warm welcome & good pasta!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

The minute you walk in, ANGELO (owner) greets you warmly (and genuine!) and takes you to your table. The food is good, especially the LINGUINI with red clam sauce. This was the best dish we tried. There was a pasta combo with a ravioli, penne with pesto and gnocchi with a cream sauce. I had the appetizer portion and it was perfect. Two others had the main course portion of the same dish and found it too heavy and rich to finish (having had appetizers beforehand).
Apparently, this is an institution in Phoenix (been around for 38 years!). The decor is black and white. I thought it was classy. It is a bit pricey so most people go for special occasions, I suppose. We were in town for a few days and our relatives took us. It was divine.

“outstanding food & impeccable service...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

We, recently, spent one day/nite in Phoenix. We asked the front desk clerk, at our hotel, to recommend an upscale Italian restaurant. She suggested AVANTI. The owner (who has been in business for 38 years) graciously greeted us & came to our table several times, throughout our meal. ALL the pasta is homemade. I had the cannelloni. My husband had the gnocchi. The food was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!! Better than any Italian food we've had in South Philly, or Little Italy, (NYC). If we lived in the Phoenix area, we would definitely eat there often.

“Top class Italian food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

I loved this restaurant where we were just one month ago. A very nice welcome, no reservation made, but a nice place was found for us. Service is just perfect, rare these days...the elegant Italina style. Wine is excelent, food is just what you dream of and never can get. We both loved it very much, sure to go back if back in Phoenix. To be recommended!
