“Delicious for every meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

First off, they deliver a wonderful breakfast, with creative twists on old favorites. Not sure if they cater the pool area, but the food there for lunch was also great. Dinner is not to missed. They have a beautiful indoor space that has just been redone, but we highly recommend eating on one of the patios. Everything we ate was delicious. Started with a corn chowder that certainly wasn't low fat (think lots of heavy cream), but was to die for. The beet salad looked beautiful on the plate and was equally delicious. I had grilled octopus, the best I ever had, and my wife loved here vegetable risotto. If you only have time for one dinner in Phoenix, run to T. Cooks.

“MORE work needed to regain Wow factor?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

We loved the refurb of the bar area. MIIXUP will be were sure a greaty successTyler, Charlie and the team of mixologists are making a good impact. We ate from the bar menu twice :- found the menu some what limited and lacking in options for the gluten intolerant.
MUCH hype has been given to the relaunch of T. COOK'S restaurant. In our view, had we have not been given a $50 voucher we would have been even more disappointed!
Yes, the ambience has changed : is brighter and has a modern edge to its rustic feel. The menu, we found to be limited, safe and lacking the wow factor. Beet salad app - tasteless tortillini/scallop entree ok no big deal, choc pate - EXCELLENT!
As for serving exotic meants - ie antelope - its rather an outdated early "naughties" fad thats the preserve of London's lesser known gastropubs
A suited MD wafted around and courted the larger "corp" party tables, yet paid litte and no attention to couples seated on the fringe of the restuarant. Even less to two men seated next to the servers door!
Similary Chef Mc Cabe made a fleeting front of house visit to a larger table - when we asked our server if we could briefly feedback our dining experience - we were told he was too busy to come out a second time! - The following day, we did receive a half-hearted and ill timed apology accompanied by an unfulfilled "we'd like to make it up to you...." from Christain the suited MD - Too late Im afraind
I feel much work still needs to be done with the newly rebranded T Cooks
IF T Cook's is to regain its crown of being one of AZ's top resturants - Much work need to be done - Missed a trick in not promoting the place/special menu during AZ food week; a late promo tweet isnt the way to go. A more varied and less gimmicky menu and a greater front of house atention to ALL DINERS is a start

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

Disappointing. We have dined at T-Cooks on multiple occasions, held corporate dinners in the private dining room and have brought multiple out of town guests to a great location. Unfortunately the new menu and service is disappointing.

The night we went (Oct. 5th) we waited 30 minutes to get any food. We asked for bread (we learned after the meal bread is served upon request) good thing as our entrees came 45 minutes after we ordered them. One of the specials that night was two quarter sized scallops cut in half and two ravioli squares for $32.

What happened? I have dined at T-Cooks on over twenty five different occasions. When I provided feedback with the restaurant manager after the meal she explained they had been open only four weeks. FOUR WEEKS...? Wrong answer.

This is a real disappointment for a restaurant that I would rank in the past right up there as one of the top five restaurants in Phoenix. I really hope they turn this around.

“Used to be my favorite restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We had not been to T. Cook's in quite some time. Went a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed. It seems the previous chef had departed, along with his menu. Many of our favorite menu items disappeared. The new chef seems to have a different approach which does not suit our tastes. The new menu makes it difficult for those who lean toward a vegetarian diet to find satisfying entrees. Our selections were "so-so" in quality. While the decor is still very pleasing, the service seems informal and lackadaisical. I hoe they do something to improve, as this was really a special dinner place for us.

“New T Cooks - Outstanding Makeover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

We visit T Cooks several times each year for special occasions or doing staycations. It has been a fantastic dining experience that holds many special occasion memories for us.

This year the Royal Palms decided to update both the menu, the chef, and the design. Whenever you mess with a classic traditional restaurant you run the risk of sabotaging it's future. I must say that based on our first experience with the new T Cooks it is an outstanding and impressive update!

Entire restaurant has a much more contemporary look and feel. The menu is a little more simple but incredibly diverse. Many Wildgame offerings not found elsewhere throughout Phoenix. Fantastic seafood dishes. An amazing assortment of appetizers all of which provide some temptation to sample.

On this night we enjoyed a perfectly prepared antelope loin ($40) with some powerful accompaniments to the dish including a squash, lobster mushroom, all with an incredible artistic presentation. I enjoyed a Rouget (red mullet from Mediterranean and Brazil) accompanied by rabbit bolognese, cuttlefish, on a smear of squid ink. ($32). It was also perfectly prepared and beautifully paired with the rabbit. We started the meal with the stone seared foie gras - seared at the table on a 500 degrees stone. Amazing!!! ($25)

We loved the unpretentious nature of the entire restaurant - staff - menu , and yet the high quality, style, sophistication of the all new T. Cooks. Also loved the wine parings that allowed for3 small pours with the meal. What a great concept that allowed us to sample 3 great wines without trying to consume 3 full glasses with the meal.

Chef Paul McCabe has done an outstanding job of putting together a great new look and feel with a brilliant new menu while honoring the rich heritage of T. Cooks great legacy in the Valley.

I look forward to many more meals and special moments and memories! Job well done!
