I met a friend who was attending a meeting at the Hyatt and we decided on trying the Compass Room for dinner. Our reservation was handled on time and we were seated in a timely manner. Service was excellent; it was the food that was poor.
I selected the Niman Ranch pork loin. Ignoring the small portion was easy as it was barelky chewable. The meat was over cooked, dry and tough! My companion order the Beef Rib Stuffed Pasta with a cream sauce. The sauce was well balanced and light enough but, again, the meat was tough.
I am aware that beef short ribs are not steak, but with proper preparation, they should be tender though stringy. These were not in that category; they were tough though stringy.
All in all, the food was not worth half the cost. So if you want a unique view, the Compass has that. What the Compass needs is better food, well prepared.
