I attended a conference at this location in January of 2006. It’s not a location where you will find every detail “perfect”, but I’d say most people enjoy their stay (I did)
The good: The rooms are very nice. I had a King suite, that included a separate living space ( TV, mini bar and coffee maker) from the bedroom and bath area. Its similar to Embassy Suite Romm design. The room had a nice view and overlooked one of the many pools. I don’t know exactly how many pools the property had, but there was a large selection of both pools and hot tubs. The staff is very accommodating and my check in was handled quickly and in a very professional manner.
There is a very limited selection of restaurants (two). The restaurants are adequate, but your best bet is to go elsewhere. The $179.00 per night rate seemed reasonable for Phoenix in Janaury.
The not so good: I was surprised at the number if small issues I experienced: the bedspread was stained, I had problems connecting to the in-room internet and could not get anyone on site to assist (I was directed to an 800 number, with a 20 min wait), the high speed connection is $9.95 per day, one of the room phones had a static and there was a noticeable rattle in the air conditioning unit. On the positive side when I notified the desk of these problems, they were addressed immediately with a follow up phone call to confirm they were taken care of. I was attending a meeting at the hotel and the meeting rooms were uncomfortably cold.
Overall – if you are looking for golf, a little hiking and some time in a pool- book with confidence. One warning- The location is HUGE. I if you have any difficulty walking you may want to make special arrangements for a room near the lobby, or if you are with a group make sure your rooms are close together.
