“Complete Adult Relaxation. Cannot wait to return (Long review, bear with me!)”
So, let me start my review just by stating that a friend and myself (we are 28) booked this trip as a last minute getaway to somewhere warm in the midst of a late winter/work stress.
We originally tried to book at the Squaw (because of the lazy river), but they were booked. The Hilton advisor told me that the Pointe Tapatio had availability & that we could also use the Squaw amenities such as the pools and restaurants & added that they had a free shuttle between resorts. OK, sold!( I will touch on this later) We booked this resort and got what I would consider a pretty slammin' price on it. Totally satisfied with our decision, my friend and I booked spa treatments for immediately upon our arrival as we got in early & figured our rooms wouldn't be quite ready yet. The concierge/bellmen gladly took our bags and stored them for us until we returned from the spa. They also drove us to our spa appt.
Spa: AMAZING! Had a great experience. We both got massages and the chocolate papaya sugar scrub. I cannot remember the name of my masseuse. He was excellent! Total relaxation. My friend's masseuse was a woman from Belgium and she reports that her massage was also excellent. We had the sugar scrub. I had gotten a spray tan (since this trip was so last minute) prior to coming to the resort and was a little nervous that my tan was going to be scrubbed off :) Anyway, the scrub was excellent. Smelled delish, and we both felt silky smooth as we headed off to be checked in to the hotel and let the partying begin....
Check in: I was checked in without any problem. It was still early (1100AM). We were uncertain if we would be able to get our rooms. The girl at the front desk checked us in & gave us the wristbands that 'WIlsonFly88' had a problem with(see review below). She told me that we had to have these wristbands to get into the falls waterpark. She explained that we did NOT have to wear them, but simply had to have them to get into the waterpark. She also explained that they cost $25 to replace, so please not to lose them. OK, no problem. I have stayed at several all inclusive resorts where you HAVE to wear a wristband the entire time you are there. My friend and I put the wristbands on without hesitation and skipped off to our suites to change into our bikinis.
Falls Water Park: The first place we went was the water park. This place is legit. Stone waterfalls, bar, tons of lounge chairs. This place was packed with people of all ages. Yes, there are a LOT of kids here. It really didn't bother us. We went straight to the bar where we were greeted by bartender, Ron. A couple beside us had a tall shaker full of some delicious looking drink. Ron explained that they recently added some new cocktails to the menu and showed us the menu of drinks. We started off with a Mango Tango, and went down the list (refilling the shaker costs less than the first drink you order). We asked Ron to take our photo. He did, and then explained that the sun made the picture dark and ran around the bar to take our picture from a different direction so it would show up nicely. Ron gets an A+ on customer service! He helped set the vibe of the trip! We layed out in the sun and drank several drinks before heading to the adult pool. (of note: you can reserve the cabanas here- I think that would be so fun for a party to do!) We had a snack (veggie tray/hummus) from the pool bar. It was good. You can't really mess that up, but that is the only food item we ate at this particular place. I'm sure the other food is good.
Adult pool: So, the pool is small. That is OK, it serves the purpose. There are several chairs, and we always were able to get a chair. Waiters come out to your chair and wait on you. (A+). We asked for a drink receommendation, & one waiter suggested 'Blue Lagoons' We had several of these on our first day here which made for a fun day at the pool and a foggy dinner. Bartender Nick made us lots of delicious drinks and was always friendly. All of the bartenders at the adult pool bar were excellent. We both had salads here, the spinach & southwest salads were excellent! Needless to say, we spent a lot of time here :)
Rooms: we stayed in a standard suite. It had a main sitting area, then the bathroom and a vanity room separate from each other, which was nice. The bedroom was spacious & we had a balcony. Loved our room. Safe in the closet. We had some trouble with the wifi at first, but the front desk talked us through it without problem. We were able to 'FaceTime' without any issues. Air worked great, good water pressure. We really spent minimal time in the room. It was big, clean, and nice. No issues whatsoever.
Restaurants: We went to A Different Pointe of View, Pointe in Tyme, and the Terrace. All meals were excellent. A different pointe of view/the Terrace is a must because of the views. Go a little early before the sun sets! We did drinks/apps at the Terrace on the patio before our reservaton at Different Pointe of View. We ate at Pointe in Tyme daily for breakfast. I had a goat cheese/bacon omelette & the veggie frittata. Both excellent.
We tried to get a shuttle to the Squaw to lay on a raft in the lazy river. We were told since the Squaw was booked, they would not allow guests of our hotel into their resort/pools/etc. Hmmm....this was the IDEA that got us to book at this hotel in the first place! I was a little annoyed, but....our resort was really awesome,so no need to get all huffy on vacation. We loaded up our stuff & headed to the adult pool where we had a fabulous time. I will say that we later went to the Squaw and took the lazy river for a spin. :)
The gift shop has TONS of cute stuff and the staff was very friendly.
We never once (at Tapatio or Squaw) had anyone check our wristbands or ask to see them. I don't know why people have had any issues with them because we had none.
Overall: This report exceeded our expectations, and we cannot wait to bring our other friends here! I honestly can't think of any complaints that I have other than the little hiccup of them telling us that we could use the Squaw amenities and then once we got there told us that we couldn't. Seemed a little like a bait & switch. However, after we snuck (woops) into the Squaw, we were happy that we ended up staying at the Tapatio, and probably would choose the Tapatio over the Squaw anyway! Oh, one other complaint: I wish we could've stayed longer! :)

Thank you for your detailed review. I am happy to hear that you received great service from our bartenders Ron and Nick and that you enjoyed the various drink selections. It’s also great to hear that you enjoyed our Different Pointe of View restaurant and lounge as well as breakfasts at Pointe In Tyme. I apologize that you were told you could use the Squaw Peak amenities when you made your reservation and were later told you could not. Our guests are free to use their amenities, however, it is contingent on their occupancy. They are typically sold out over Spring Break and their pools and restaurants are at full capacity. It’s wonderful to read that we exceeded your expectations and that you will return. We look forward to having you back.
