Overall a gorgeous resort. Have stayed here more than several times for business and pleasure. For business: Attended two different events in the ballrooms. Ballroom area is very nice -close to clean restrooms and have convenient "water stations" in the foyer areas which is handy as it is a trek back to the lobby and rooms. Food was good which is always hard to pull off when serving 500 people a sit down dinner!
For pleasure: Fun to hang out at the river pool with kids ( and adults!). However, I think the river pool area can use a bit of sprucing up in the last year or two. Looking a little run down and the cleanliness of the pool needed some attention. ( drink cups and debris floating in pool and left on sides of pool (yuk). Pool side service is very slow. Food and drinks are average - a bit pricey for the quality (typical of large resorts). However, our last stay they had a street taco stand set up near entrance of the river pool and the cook was very friendly and the tacos were fresh, delicious and a great price.
Rooms/suites (have stayed in both) are nice and clean, comfy bed! Free wi- fi is always great and in room safe handy. Our last room was situated mid- lobby ( as you exited you could look over the rail down in to the bar area ) If I stayed there again I would request to not be in that location. It was extremely noisy until well after midnight and was difficult to sleep.
Have been to their spa a couple of times - its ok - nothing spectacular. Service (massage) was really good but the facility isn't that luxurious.

Room tip: If you like a quiet room then do not stay near the lobby. For great views you would want your balcony towards the pool/mountains.

I was here for 3 days and my room was outstanding. I recommend a king room and you will not be disappointed with any aspect of this hotel. The staff will see to any need you have and the views are just fantastic. I can't wait to come back again.

After 2 years of nothing but family locations my husband and I had a business trip planned to take place at the JW Marriott Resort in Phoenix. When you first pull up of course it's everything you could ask for and more until.
-Valet, of course why not valet. Well not a single person told either of us about the $30 a day charge. We made sure to move our vehicle quickly.
- checkin. My husband is almost 6 foot. Of course we can fit in a double bed. NOT!!!
- room change. Yay a king size bed. (Always a plus)
-Day 1-3 housekeeping is the slowest for a resort of this size. By 2 in the afternoon you where luck to have your room service let alone sweep or mop the bathroom. The same hair with dust on it that was not our stayed there until finally a housekeeping manager came. One of the evening that they finally came to derive our room our 7 year could make a bed better than the staff.
-room service. The same trays were in the hall for 2 days.
-lazy river, Score! Relax in the sun and stay cool in the heat. Oh wait don't mind all the trash under the bushes and left around the pool.
All things being above said the food was good and services at the spa excellent. My husband had no complaints about the golf course. If I had a choice of resort in Phoenix/Scottsdale. I'm not sure this would be the one I pick.

I stayed here for a conference for work. I am on a very restricted diet and totally expected to find nothing to eat but lettuce for four days. At our first event, my colleague asked the dining manager, Sue, about the possibility of finding something for me to eat. Sue came over and took my extensive list of restrictions and made me promise to ask for my special meals at every opportunity. I am not one to usually ask for any exceptions or special substitutions, but Sue made me feel very comfortable. Sure enough, for the first meal, Sue was there and brought out the most perfect and delicious meal for me. Even when Sue wasn't working, the staff knew about my restrictions and were more than eager to fetch a most exceptional creation from the chef. I cannot express how grateful I am for the amazing service I received. All of the staff were so kind.
The resort itself was wonderful. Everything was very clean. The flavored water in the lobby was a great treat each day. My room was very comfortable and upscale feeling. The pool area was relaxing and the lazy river was a great way to cool off and soak up the sun. We took a long walk down a walking trail suggested by the bell hop. The trail was along the main road for part of the time which made it a little difficult to talk as we walked. A trail along the golf course would have been a better option.
The fitness center had everything I needed, including fresh green apples!
I would certainly come back to this resort. I highly recommend it.

I stayed here for a conference this week. The hotel rooms are very nice and very comfortable. This is a very large resort and conference center with lots of amenities. The best thing about this location though is absolutely the staff. Every single person I encountered was warm and friendly, asked if I was enjoying my stay, if there was anything I needed even if I slept well and was comfortable in my room. This is a great location and I highly recommend staying here or hosting an event here.
