“Great Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Had to go to a business meeting here and found the resort to be not only business friendly, but also would be very family friendly as well. Numerous pools, lazy river, golf course and conveniently located next to Desert Ridge shopping center. A short walk to the shopping center and you'll find plenty of restaurants, shops, Dave & Busters and a movie theater. The staff at the Marriott was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I would not hesitate to go back to this resort!

The front desk man went out of his way to tell us that we would have a great view. So having no view at all was adding insult to injury. Got a first-floor handicapped room, which might have been more useful to someone who was handicapped. Roy's fusion food was subpar. I ordered blackened fish. It was somehow blackened on the outside but not cooked at all on the inside. While working out at the jammed workout facility this morning (accessible only by going outside), staff opened the sliding doors at 6 a.m. Which was nice except it was 45 degrees. OK on to day two. Let's see what it brings. Currently in 1128. Don't accept this room. (PS the bed had a dip on one side!)

I came here for a wedding and had to stay a bit longer due to Sandy. Very well-maintained, sprawling resort with beautiful pools, good food, and helpful staff. A variety of restaurants and different areas, indoor and outdoor, to gather and relax. Rooms were modern and well-appointed.

Excellent adult and family resort. Hotel is connected to the Wildfire Golf Club which boasts two excellent courses, a Palmer and a Faldo course, You can access the golf shop through the hotel. The hotel property includes several large pools, a lazy river with a small slide and two outside hot tubs. The pool bar and cafe offers various lunch items and features the Kokopelli Cabana Colada with 3 types of rum. If you like a refreshing desert-type drink, this one is excellent. The resort also has an excellent spa with a small cafe and its own secluded and quiet adults-only pool. The complex is located a very short distance from the Desert Ridge Mall that offers various casual restaurants, shops, movie theater etc. Many guests take advantage of the the 4 pm to 6 pm happy hour at Roy's offering reduced price drinks and appetizers sitting around a fire pit under the stars.

Room Tip: We prefer a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor overlooking the pool area in the center of the complex. No...

This was a great get away for our anniversary. I loved the hotel and the pools and lazy river were quite relaxing to stay all day long. A 3 hour ride to Sedona and the Grand Canyon were worth your time as it is a gorgeous drive. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with a view of the back of the hotel overlooking the pool/golf couse area.

I absolutely loved this resort! I went with a group of friends and stayed for 3 days. I now wish that we would have stayed a little longer. The rooms are nice with large bathrooms and plush robes! The spa was the best I have ever experienced! The spa has its own pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub and restaurant. The breakfast buffet was a little pricey but they do have a nice selection of foods! If you are at the pool and want a drink be prepared to go to the bar and get it yourself. The drinks were also a little pricey but very good. This resort is located across the street from a huge shopping complex that has a lot of restaurants if you prefer not to eat at the resort. The staff and locals are very friendly! I highly recommend this resort!

Just returned from a 3 day conference at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge. Wish the conference was longer, and not because of the meetings! It's a beautiful property, meticulously maintained, excellent service. They really know how to handle large business meetings and conferences. The food and service is outstanding. We had lunch and dinner buffets outside each day. Beautiful surroundings, and the evening dinner settings had a wonderfully exotic southwestern feel. Really very nice.
