Description: Refined Asian-style teahouse by day, funky izakaya by night: Nobuo at Teeter House reflects the fascinating duality of Nobuo Fukuda. The setting — a turn-of-the-century, wood-floored bungalow, awash in earth tones — emulates the relaxed intimacy of Japan’s izakaya, where friends and business associates gather to eat Japanese-style tapas, drink beer and have fun. Nobuo elevates the custom while staying true to its low brow roots, offering rustic Japanese classics with modern American inflections. During the day, a short lunch menu is offered, as are exotic, aromatic teas, meant to be sipped and savored over quiet conversation. In the evening, Nobuo creates"5-Star" cuisine, bringing a Western sensibility to Japanese sushi traditions while combining seasonal ingredients in exciting, inventive ways. “A contemporary, creative spin on Japanese cuisine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Where to begin - every single dish was a new experience, was delicious and memorable! Most everything on the menu is shareable, and we shared five dishes and a bottle of wine and we were in heaven! We love good food, but are not very experienced with Japanese dishes. That didn't matter at all! The tempura style squash blossom, filled with goat cheese and dried shrimp was far more delicious than any stuffed zuchinni blossom I've had in Italian restaurants. The house cured salmon with pecorino was mild and delicious. The panko crusted soft shell crab salad was as good as any soft shell crab I've had in Maryland, the seabass and mushrooms baked in parchment was fabulous, alternating the delicate white fish with earthy mushroom in a sublime broth. We finished with warm duck salad, perfectly seared rare duck breast on grilled romaine with orange slices. The service is wonderful, knowledgeable and unobtrusive. Only possible complaint - the restaurant is series of small rooms with wooden floors, and is quite noisy. This is a new favorite before a performance at the Herberger Theatre or Symphony Hall.

“What an Adventure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

A dinner here is always such a wonderful adventure! We've been multiple times, trying to work our way through the entire menu. It keeps changing, so we are eating as fast as we can to catch up. There are, however, some staples that have to be ordered each time, such as the sea bass cooked inside the paper bag, creating a deliciously delicate piece of fish. Be sure to try something you've never had - you will not be disappointed.

“Still the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

We all miss Chef Nobou's fine dining restaurant in Scottsdale (Sea Saw), but Teeter house is a close second. Casual and fun Japanese food that goes well beyond sushi. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the downtown area

“Another mouth-watering dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Our 2nd time here was just as enjoyable as our first! We love the freshness of the sushi and delicious flavors. My favorites last night were the yellow tail ceviche, Hamachi and lamb dish!! Soo good.

“Very Delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

The food was really good. The staff was very friendly, nice, and attentive. Portion size of the food is a bit too small and you wont really get filled. A bit pricey for the food. Nice location and very cozy atmosphere. Definitely would go again.
