“Visiting Phoenix? Visit the MIM!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Even if you are not a musician, the MIM is an awesome experience. The museum contains thousands of instruments and interactive displays that almost anyone should enjoy. Exhibits are arranged in geographic order so walking through the displays moves you from continent to continent.
Excellent!

“A beautiful way to spend one's day.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

This gem in Phoenix was an unanticipated treat. We had no idea what to expect and were overwhelmed with the joys of music. The comprehensive displays were wonderful and educational at the same time. After five hours we left but only because the legs of an elderly guest just couldn't continue. Not only did we return for an evening concert, but we also became members. A definite 'must see.'

“Great, informative, interactive. You need three days! Great food too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

This isn't just about musical instruments, it's about people and cultures from all over the world! There was so much information and so many things to see, I was upset that we only allowed for one day to visit. They had to kick us out at closing.

They also had a great cafe. I had a really fabulous salad with fresh, high quality, local ingredients. They had some other great options as well.

“10,000 reasons to love this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

The MIM is jammed packed with over 10,000 different instruments. They do certainly come alive with the audio guide that automatically plays snippets from many of the instruments as you walk breast them. They do a pretty good job of telling the story of the instruments, but if there is anything this amazing museum could add would be more of the story behind the music/instruments - as in tying it all together. Plan to spend longer there than you would predict. My favorite part was the mechanical instruments (such as player piano).

“Five hours just wasn't enough”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Captivating and entertaining beyond my wildest expectations. Music from all over the world, each 'booth' containing a short description of the music you are about to hear - then 3 - 5 snippets of various music from the region or era and a display of an array of the musical instruments you are watching and hearing with your own set of earphones that automatically "plug in" to the music as you stand in front of the booth. Spend as much or as little time as you want. A really ingenius setup for a museum. I could have spent another 5 hours there.
