“Incredible Design - Excellent valet/conceirge service, Villas could use an updating...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

My wife and I spent the weekend here for a wedding and the valet/concierge service was top notch. Front desk...not so much. We checked in and our room was not ready, we were two hours before check in, so no problem there. We ate lunch and went shopping. The front desk person was supposed to call us and nothing for three hours. We then went to the wedding rehearsal and came back, still nothing, we went back to the front desk to check the status and the person said, "oh...the room has been cleaned for a few hours and is ready...". That upset us at such a top quality resort. Villa room (connected to brother's suite) was in bad need of updating. Comfortable but very 80's decor. TV very small and not flat screen. Bathroom clean but not very modern. For the price per night we were hoping for something more. Found out that Biltmore has residents who own the villa's and lease them out to guests for part of the revenue. Makes sense now. Biltmore probably needs to require stronger deed restrictions so their customers have a consistent/enjoyable stay. Ocatilla is supposed to be nice so perhaps we will pay the extra amount and try that next time. For the price, I would book elsewhere in Scottsdale. If you are there to relax and not do much, the Biltmore does provide a very nice sense of resort and solitude for relaxation. PS - the grounds are fantastic and always well maintained. Golf looks fun but very expensive!

Room Tip: Book in the Ocatilla, very new! Eat offsite at the mall near the Biltmore. Use the shuttle cart se...

“Overall very solid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

First time staying here and a place that I wanted to try. Beautiful and well maintained property and for the mostpart a customer focused staff.

We stayed in the Octilla building. Very nice room. There is a lounge available for breakfast, drinks, etc. and that was a nice feature.

It's a large property and some walking is involved as valet and self parking are centered atlobby/front of property.

Did a nice job on Thanksgiving in Gold Room...very classy.

One negative...comfy bed, but cheap pillows.

“Lovely hotel great R & R”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

The grounds are immaculately manicured. Wright restaurant food was devine our waiter James was just as devine. The spa was top notch service especially Sylvia who went out of her way to make me feel at home....I would give her a raise and promotion! Club room ran out of food for breakfast and not replenished in their defense it was 915 and breakfast ended at 930 not what I would expect from such a top rated hotel. The pools were well maintained and service good unfortunately two pools ran out of towels on first day of our trip. It was Thanksgiving weekend very crowded and not enough lounge chairs but I guess you should expect that on holiday weekend. The place is so relaxing and beautiful wasn't going to let lack of towels or the bug in my bathtub ruin our mini vacation which management addressed ASAP!
Over all good hotel excellent service but i just wasn't WOW'd.

Room Tip: We stayed in a newer building because of the club room but i would skip that wasnt a ritz carlton ty...

“Scorpions and unconcerned staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

In a very upscale hotel like the Arizona Biltmore, I expect high standards. But when I stepped into the shower on Monday morning, 11/19/12, I was stung by a large scorpion. My friend was able to kill the scorpion and call the front desk. They sent security with insect sting wipes and got some basic information but I never heard from anyone in the hotel again, even to see if I was alive. As a result, I was incapacitated for 2 of the 4 days I stayed at the property and unable to walk. When I checked out on 11/21/12 I asked the front desk clerk if he was aware of my problem and he was not. He comped a $29 meal charge and said he would have the manager call me later that day. I have yet to be contacted by anyone. I understand that "it's the desert" and "you have to watch out for scorpions" but I have never even seen a scorpion before and certainly did not expect to see one in the 3rd floor shower stall of a pricey resort. (We had even upgraded to the Ocatillo.) I am appalled at the lack of concern by hotel staff. It was a completely ruined vacation and I would never stay at this property again.

To make matters worse, you have to walk miles to get anywhere on the grounds and it's like a maze to figure out where things are. Not sure how they get around ADA requirements.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and alerting us to the situation. The health and safety of our guests is very important to us. I apologize for any disconnect and that we did not follow-up with you. We work hard to provide our guests with a remarkable luxury experience in every aspect of their stay and I regret that we did not meet our expectations. Again, I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

“Excellent stay, fantastic staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012 via mobile

Absolutely loved my short but well enjoyed night at this amazing hotel. Pure luxury, great surroundings and fabulous staff. The room was spacious with a massive comfortable bed, pool view and some nice touches in the room. Ipod dock is very useful, big tv and many channels. Huge bathroom with walk in shower and a bath. Lounge downstairs with drinks and snacks. Love love love and can't wait to come back.
