“Great Outdoors”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Great outdoor activity (do-it-yourself) entertainment for free. The park offers activity to hikers, bikers, runners and outdoorsmen alike. There are numerous trails which criss-cross the park in every geographical direction. Whether one climbs to the various summits or simply stay on the lower trails, both and all will afford the visitor sights unparalleled so close to a large metropolitan area. The views from the various peaks are both breathtaking, awesome and spectacular!
Bring plenty of water and pick after one self.

“Great view of Phoenix”

What a great way to kill some free time with a drive up South Mountain. The view was awesome, and the price is free.

“Fun Ride to the Summit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

South Mountain Park is known for its excellent hiking trails. My time in Phoenix was limited so I didn’t get the chance to do much hiking. But I did make sure to drive the Summit Road to Dobbins Lookout in South Mountain Park where I was treated to unparalleled views of the Valley of the Sun. It was Saturday morning, February 16, the wind was whipping around and the view from the top was fantastic. The Phoenix metro area is a sight to behold and the Summit Road which snakes up the mountain was a fun ride, especially as I caught sight of coyotes on the road ahead. They were mangy looking. Glad I was in a car.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

I took out of town guests through the park up to Dobbins Look Out. Even thought the road is windy, it is sure worth the drive. The view is spectacular.

“So many hikes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This park is a treasure. Whether you want a mild stroll along a nearly level path, or you want to run along a challenging ridge trail, this park offers it. You can feel as if you are in the wilderness five minutes after leaving the trailhead, or you can stick to the well-used paths and always have company. But- bring your own water. Lots. And if you need to be near a restroom, check before you choose a trail. Only a few areas offer facilities.
