“Exhibits Make the Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

This museum is a fine smaller city museum and what really impacts the experience are the exhibits they are hosting there so choose it when there is one of interest for you and this will be a very good experience.

“A nice gem of Modern Art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

A few stops by tram away from the convention center, this museum has a mdern design and is home to several collections of contemporary art.

I chose to focus on a temporary exhibit of contemporary Latin American art (ends on Sunday May 5, but on the first Friday of the month the museum is open 6-10 pm!!). The guided tour gave a nice overview of the art and an insight in the circumstances, the life or the background of the artist. A few of the geometric and kinetic pieces were mind-boggling or eyesight challenging!
The docent who guided the tour on Friday knew her topic well and made this visit a real treat for the mind, the heart and the senses!

Do not miss if you have a few hours of free time.

“Absorb the art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Park in the north side lot (xc at McDowell & Central), walk out to Central to the entrance. Also, the light rail runs along Central Ave. Upon entering the museum, thousands of paper butterflies greet observers. The refreshing, contemporary Latin American Art Exhibit was first on our list because it is on site for just two more days. The Digital Print Fashion gallery was quite educational and delightful. Intricate Chinese paintings were viewed next. "Redacted" was our last exhibit before lunch at the Palette. The Museum hallways and wings encourage strolling in spaces designed to complement the art. This is a top notch facility. Attendants were knowledgeable and helpful. We will again visit soon to take in the Asian collection.

“Arts & Flowers & Butterflies~ Oh My!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

While visiting Phoenix, we visited this Museum on the Sunday afternoon of the Arts & Flowers Exhibit. Very interesting take on the Flower arrangements~ If they do this next year , I would highly recommend going on the opening day (Thursday) which would have been much better for the Florals.

The Butterfly exhibit/ display is awesome. I am not sure how long it will be there, but it is worth a trip @$15.00 admission just to see it. Very creative use of materials & space.

We bought our tickets on line~ very weird set-up. They need to work on that.

The Museum is new & beautiful & I am guessing that in 50 years or so, it will be acclaimed for it's now very young collection. Interesting curating with a bold /shock modern bend.

A few delicious pieces tucked in here and there~ a Monet, a Diego Rivera & a couple of Warhols. The placement of much of the art felt haphazardly chosen.

The docents are knowledgeable and love to talk about the collection. Ask them anything & they will light up!

I would have given this musuem a 3.50 out of 5.00 if that choice would have been available. It will be a 5.00 some day~ not yet.

Go for the special exhibits , not for the permanent collection.

“Beautiful museum in Phoenix”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

February 2013 Just a few weekends ago, I was wondering what to do with the kids when a friend from Facebook told me about the free entrance to the Phoenix Museum for Bank of America cardholders on the first weekends of every month! Awesome! Time to visit the museum then!

My wife and I were free because we has Bank of America cards, and we just paid for the tickets of our young twins. The tickets are not expensive:
Adults $15 Senior Citizens $12 Students (with ID) $10 Children (Ages 6-17) $6

They also have free days! Free Admission Times:
Wednesday 3-9pm First Fridays 6-10pm First friday of every month.

You can see wonderful art! With more than 17,000 works of American, Asian, European, Latin American, Western American, modern and contemporary art, and fashion design...

At the time we went, there was a painting from Claude Monet, amazing Mexican art and the twins specially enjoyed the miniature artworks (little miniature doll-house like sets).

The restuarant is also very good and you should try their salad:) After eating, you can walk around the garden at the back where they have some interesting statues. As of 2013, they are also building this huge theatre just beside the Museum.

This Museum has been around for 50 years and continues to grow.
