“huge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

I love this place! So many different nooks and crannies filled with art. I also love the displays that are more creative pieces than just paintings. Like the burnt church and the video/sounds display in bottom level...it is this kinda scary but intriguing video of a man's face distorted onto a squat lumpish thing with a background track of ominous nursery rythmes.

“An art bonanza with a multi-cultural side”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

The range of art at Phoenix Art Museum runs the gamut from ancient texts to Renaissance paintings to contemporary pop art and a fashion gallery displaying clothes from various designers across numerous eras. My personal favorite gallery is the pop art gallery on the ground floor, which currently houses everything from a massive, multi-TV and neon sign installation to a quirky, creepy talking hand projected onto a green blob. The Asian gallery (temporarily closed as of this writing) is expansive and impressive, too. In addition to the many exhibits, the museum frequently shows a variety of films in comfy Whitman Hall, including exclusive (to Arizona) recorded broadcasts of National Theatre of London productions like
"Frankenstein" and "The Tempest." The grounds are lush and well-kept, and include a fascinating sculpture garden (dig the headless statues) and a good locavore restaurant, Palette.

“New to the Art World”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

As a late bloomer in the world of art appreciation, I find the museum very nice. Having never formally studied art and believing art to be mostly paintings (based on elementary school field trip experiences in another city) I have found several very interesting exhibits at the Phoenix Art Museum - one on a clothing designer and another on uses of paper. I plan to visit the newest exhibit on dresses from the 1920s era.

“Great fashion collection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

The Phx Art Museum has some great collections. My personal favorite, since childhood, have been the Miniatures and the Fashion room.
