“Close to town - maybe too close”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Our group of 8 had both a tent site and a pull thru rv site. The folks who run the place were very pleasant and extra helpful. Bathrooms were spotless, as was the laundry.
My rating comes from the fact that the RV sites were very close together (when we needed access to the connections on the RV we had to tangle with the neighbor's tied dogs) and our tent site was within earshot of the 4 lane road out front. This may be just fine for some, but was a bit disappointing to us.
The drive from Phoenix to Payson gave us a real feel for the wide open spaces out west. Just wish there had been more space in this campground.

Very clean park with full showers and toilet facilities that are clean and well maintained. There are several pull through spots and many pull or back in areas. They can accommodate 40’ RV without a problem.
Everyone who works there are very friendly and helpful.
There is free Wi-Fi. Our antenna did not pick up local TV channels.
Lots of trees for shade and easy in and out off the highway.
In season there is a swimming pool.
The park is just across the street (highway) from a café that is very good. There is a small store just passed that. There also appears to be a steak restaurant next to the park.

When we moved to the campgrounds we had to sign an agreement to keep our space clean & free of TRASH & DOG POOP!!!(IT was a $25.00 fine) How ever other dogs from out side of park comes over and poops & get sick in your spot & the othe people that lived here lets there dogs do the same.Children run around park unsupervised.
The sign agreements are not upheld !(depending who you are) & It is a REAL turn off to look out side your kitchen window at dinner time to see POOP! YUK who wants to eat after that!!
Does not have the respect to let guest know if water is shut off.

We go here every summer to be close to the Rim but have full hookups. It is on the edge of town. Roads are narrow, and some spaces are close but it is a private park. Bathrooms are clean. Pets are allowed and most people are friendly. They have a pool and small playground, lots of kids on the weekends. Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am, similar to those at the state parks. When fires are allowed (due to restrictions) you have to rent a metal fire pit for $5. Staff is friendly and helpful.

This seems to be more of a 55+ community, not a true "campground"...This was our 2nd time staying at this park, and we will not go back. It seems to now have more permanent residents, which are of retirement age. The spaces are very small and close together. If you don't go to bed at 10pm, don't plan on talking to your friends/family or there will be complaints. We honestly were not loud and did not have music blasting; we are in our 30s/40s and we were camping for pete's sake. The man (resident) across the way was very nasty and literally yelled at us to quiet down at 11:30. The following night, we stayed in our camper because it was too cold to sit outside (no campfires right now due to wildfire restrictions). We did not have music on (didn't even bring a radio), yet the same nasty person complained to mgmt that we did. The camp employee came to scold us the following day, threatening to ask us to leave, until we explained our side of our "party" and then he was nicer; it was the same resident across the way complained to management. Note it was Memorial Day weekend. We left Sunday afternoon instead of staying another day and will not be back. The heated pool is still quite cold. This campground is right off the main street, so when you sleep you don't hear wilderness, you hear cars going by. Yes, it's convenient to town if you need something but next time we will find something more remote and less cramped and uptight.

Room Tip: Slots for campers are very cramped and close together. Tent sites are probably better and on the edg...

I highly recommend this campground. The campground was clean and spacious(no fire pit). We rented a tent site for 3 nights so we could have a base camp and go hiking. There are many beautiful hiking trails nearby. We had a great time. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The resort has has a heated pool and a lounge area with a T.V., computer, pool table and comfortable furniture. The restaurants, supermarket and other stores are within walking distance. I can't wait to go back next year.
