“Nondescript, but good food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

From the outside, we were a bit concerned, not because the place looked dirty, it just looked like a local diner and that wasn't what we were hoping for. We ducked inside and were pleasantly surprised; the laid-back county decor went well with the classic country music that was playing in the background, but the clincher for me was a decent selection of local beers. The food was good with a reasonable about of creativity; I had the shaved cheese sandwich (similar to a Philly) and my wife had the fish and shrimp plate. Very good and reasonable priced. There are other places in town we'd like to try, but I have no hesitation recommending this one.

“OMG you have to eat here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

If you are visiting make this your first stop. The only bad thing is we went on Friday to have ribs & they only have it on Saturday. Yes, definitely coming back tomorrow.
Clam chowder is the bomb, clams so tender you almost don't need to chew. French fries taste just like the old fashion potatoes mom made, tenderloin is like 3 sandwiches in one, the green chili cheeseburger was out of this world, along with the fried chicken livers & sweet potato fries.
The service was excellent never a dry drink glass, dirty plates cleaned immediately, & all the servers check on you as they pass by, truly concerned about any of your needs.

“Happy find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Decided to check out the city of Payson being fairly new to Arizona. It was a nice day trip from Queen Creek, Az. Not sure where to eat, we were wanting an afternoon cocktail so we looked for a bar & grill. We saw this place and really enjoyed it. The service was friendly and constant. Decor was fun western! We went around 2:00pm on a Saturday, assuming it wouldn't be busy. It was nice and steady, a good sign. I had a grilled pastrami sandwich which I asked for on sour dough with pepper jack cheese, tasty. They were more than happy to accommodate! Hubby had a bacon cheeseburger which was good. We had fries with one, onion rings with the other, all good. Drinks were inexpensive and good. Prices great, whole bill was $27.00 or so! Will go again.

“Good burger but a Breaded Tenderloin to make Midwesterners Proud!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Grabbed dinner at the Buffalo Bar & Grill and found it to be really good. The ambiance is that of a bar or saloon, with a nice western feel to it. Lots of locals and good, casual ambiance just relaxing on the Tuesday evening that we were there. My wife got the buffalo burger, which was good although she said she wished the patty was a little bit thicker. Being from Indiana and living in Arizona, I don't get a true breaded tenderloin that much, but they had one! Trying it, the sandwich was large and just like you'd expect...flattened out and super large! Worth trying if you love breaded tenderloin! The servers were all also exceptionally friendly and courteous. Will definitely keep this in mind for a good, local place to get lunch, dinner, or drinks when we are back in Payson.

“Food was OK, service was lacking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

I must have been expecting something much better than what they had to deliver! Our server stopped by our table once, and then was not seen again. I would have liked to have made a slight change on my order, but that didn't happen due to lack of opportunity. No one stopped by the table until we got our orders, then the sandwiches were on the wrong plates. My friend had a broken drink cup, and soda dripped everywhere. She had to wait almost 10 minutes at the bar just to tell someone and get another soda. No one ever came to clean up the mess. Another server happened to check on us, and she cleaned it up at least 20 minutes after it was reported. The food was just OK. I had a chicken philly sandwich, and the chicken was dry and several peppers tasted strange. The fries were very good and crunchy. I liked the decor and the place seems like it would be fun for having a beer. Hard to judge the food after one sandwich, but the service was obviously not organized.
