“Terrific Property less than perfect service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Our family of four arrived at the Camelback Inn at 9:30 am knowing it was unlikely we would be able to check in to our room. We were allowed to use the pool and resort with a call promised when our room was ready. It was HOT-105 plus. At 2 pm I dropped our bags with the Bellman and checked on our room. Not ready. At 5:15 pm we got a call that the room was ready. I informed the Bellman and went in get room keys with the hope the bellman would show us our room and deliver our luggage. After getting the room keys I returned to the car to find the bellman had loaded all the luggage back into the trunk of the car and left us to find our room and deal with our own luggage. Not the end of the world but not what one would expect from a 5 star establishment.

The property is 5 star but our experience of the service was about as bad as it gets. At dinner the waitress forgot on of our meals, the fire alarm went off for about 5 minutes due to the fajitas (which were were informed is a regular occurrence) and the waitress completely forgot one of our meals for a late arriving guest we had join us for dinner.

Three times we called "at your service," once for cooking items and dishes to enjoy breakfast in the suite, once for dishwashing items and once for a cork screw. The first time the pots, pans and dishes arrived in minutes with a follow-up call to see that we were taken care of. The second and third times the woman who answered the phone was curt and unpleasant. In response to our request for items to wash dishes we were provided a grout brush and in response to our request for a cork screw we were ignored leaving us unable to have an evening glass of wine.

The service at the pool was excellent. The suite and property were as good as it gets. The Bellman and the "at your service" staff need training. The property is so amazing it is hard to imagine why Marriott would allow such poor service to overshadow such and great place.

I would still recommend the Camelback Inn over any other resort in the area but another experience like that described above could change my mind.

Room Tip: The suites are nice

I don't know why it took so long for me to write this review. My daughter and I stayed here in April
for a long spa weekend. It was over the top! From the time we checked in we were pampered and
given top notch customer service. The food and staff at the restaurants was very good. Enjoy the buffet breakfast which had everything you could possibly desire. We stayed in a sundeck room which was spacious with spectacular views and extra comfy beds. We had an issue with noise coming from the adjoining room and it was graciously rectified and they deposited 20,000 points into my Marriott rewards account. The Marriott Camelback is definitely first class everything and I would strongly recommend staying here. We had spa treatments which were fantastic! My only complaint is make sure you arrive early if you want to spend the day relaxing at the pool spa. The pool area fills up pretty quickly and finding a place to lounge at the pool was almost impossible. They need to rethink how they book or restrict the spa pool to guests of the hotel and not day trippers that just use the spa and go back home when done.
Don't forget to visit Old Town Scottsdale for some great food and shopping.

This hotel has been a mainstay since 1936. Nestled between Camelback Mtn., and Mummy Mtn., the views are very nice. The "hotel", is really a set of adobe buildings which cover many acres, and has driveways to access the whole resort.

I recently stayed here in a 2-bed, 3-bath suite with a private pool and view of Camelback Mountain. It was an outstanding stay...returned two weeks later to stay again. You cannot go wrong here! Housekeeping provides pool towels which is ideal and the pool even has floaties. Also, eat at BLT Steak if you don't want to leave the property. The suite also has a full kitchen with items available if you need them. An ideal spot and the rates are super during the simmer.

Room Tip: If possible stay in one of the pool suites. Outstanding.

We had a mix up with our room. Front desk was on it right away and found us a wonderful roof deck room! The views were incredible! For our anniversary the Manager, Marc Rosenberg, arranged for a bottle of wine and cheese tray to be delivered to our room! And Housekeeping Supervisor, Maggie Kehr, brought us a turn down treat! The staff was impeccable from the Valet to the Batista! The grounds are serene and lush with streams and waterfalls and plenty of cozy outdoor seating. The pool staff are also attentive. It allowed us to truly relax and feel pampered. The rooms are quiet and the rooftop deck rooms are amazingly private. We want to go back again next year! Or maybe next week! :) It is now my favorite Arizona resort!

Room Tip: It is worth the extra cost to get a rooftop deck room! You will not regret it! Amazing views!!!!

Camelback Inn has been there FOREVER with a great history and a killer location nestled between Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain. To the direct west is what used to be called Squaw Peak but had its name changed for political correctness.

Grounds are fantastic and reflect what years of shaping and blending into the desert can do. Clearly a desert oasis.

Room Tip: Any room is great. Many guests likely consider the proximity to the pool.

When we arrived at the hotel we truly thought we had arrived in "Paradise". Staying there was an unforgettable experience. Our room was lovely and had all the comforts you could wish for. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were polite, friendly and extremely helpful. The food in the BLT Restaurant was sublime, we had the pork ribs and the wagu beef, both of which were the best meat we had ever tasted. Our stay at this hotel provided the perfect end to our best holiday ever and would recommend it to anyone. Just one word of warning it was very hot when we were there at the beginning of August (0ver 100 degrees).
