We arrived at 4 am so anywhere was good to stay friendly enough guy let us check out late at 2pm offered us some food, was a good enough place for some sleep. Room clean good shower. Maybe a little expensive at 140 tala but they did open for us so no complaining overall if in same situation would stay here again.

We were a family of 4 (kids 8 & 9 ) and after a long day of flights, airport waiting, and delays we were glad to have them pick us up at the Airport. Very friends staff who went out of their way to make us comfortable. Room was good for an overnight stay that had 2 big double beds and aircon. And was very clean. Breakfast was served with a good variety of food, which is great for kids.
It has a motel feel to it. Would stay there again for our fly in / fly out as they are close to the airport and wharf..

We were picked up from the aiport very efficiently and arrived at the motel. We were then informed the credit card machine was broken so we must pay cash - we could not - we were then told if we paid by credit card there was a 4% surcharge, which had never been mentioned before.

We were supposed to stay for a week but checked out the next morning - there was no wardrobe/hooks/shelves/drawers. We had a massive spider in our room ( i know that is not the motel's fault) we did not use the shower as it looked so grubby, we had people sat outside until the early hours drinking and talking loudly, breakfast was not ready on time (it was 45 minuets late) and consisted of bread and a banana.

There is nowhere around to eat but Aggies across the road - but it was raining very heavily and there are no street lights...

For 1 night this would do although it is not that cheap... but for any more than that forget it.....

Transit Motel does not "looked like a prison cell". The definition used by this reviewer is offensive, insulting, inappropriate, and unreasonable. Trip Advisor should have never allowed it. The review was based on the reviewer's observation and experience staying in the room he/she was assigned to; probably a single air condition room with its own bathroom and shower. These rooms are cheaper but it "does not looked like a prison cell". Transit Motel was built specifically for our locals; travellers between American Samoa and other countries via Faleolo International Airport in Samoa, and Samoans from Savaii residing off-island. Transit Motel suits the one night or few hours traveller transiting to leave Samoa or awaiting for the next vessel to Savaii. Thus, it has 4 different types of rooms depending on the budget and the number of occupants in each room. We have 3 air condition family rooms that can fit 4 individuals in each room. These rooms have double bathrooms and showers and other necessities such as chairs, tables, hooks, etc, etc. Apparently, this reviewer opted for the small room because of the price. Like the other reviewer, "you get what you pay for'. This should have been the title of this reviewer's review. Your review title has no explanation or justification in the content of your review, except the reviewer complaints of items that has no connection to the title. The reviewer should have checked the entire facility instead of basing the review on the cheaper room he chosed. Like most off-island visitors, they always go after cheaper rates.

Transit Motel rates are different; ranging from $30 Samoan tala for backpackers to $75 Samoan tala for a fan room to $150 Samoan tala for an air condition family room. For the rate this reviewer paid, it is much cheaper than Aggies and Airport Lodge. These are the only 3 hotels close to Faleolo International Airport. One of our practice is to allow our guests to look at our facilities before they decide. Quite often, we refer them to Airport Lodge and/or Aggies depending on their budget and if they are willing to pay a higher price. Our breakfast is complimentary and with the price you pay for a room, we can only provide coffee, a piece of bread and a piece of fruit.

The 4% fee on all credit cards is a bank policy. It is not illegal but maybe unethical. This is how much the bank which owns the credit card machine takes from all credit cards transactions. The merchant such as Transit Motel should not be paying the 4% bank fee but the customer. Thus, we encourage our customers and clients to pay cash and our Samoans loyal and faithfuly customers have done so.

I am asking Trip Advisor to take this review out of their wesbite. If they do not, I have no choice but terminate any relationship with Trip Advisor.

We needed somewhere to stay for the night before our flight and this served us well. It was a bed with clean sheets, a hot shower (mind the bugs), it was safe and a short drive to the airport for our early morning flight. While there is nowhere to eat here, it is a short walk across the road to Aggie Grey's where the food is superb. Come with low expectations.
