I found it a challenge in Western Samoa to find lodging that offered good service, good location, with clean and modern (WiFi,TV & Phone in room) for under $100 per night. The Airport Lodge is under $100 but it is not a value. It lacks basic "modern" accouterments that should be standard for this price range. On the positive side Airport Lodge's location is great for seeing sunsets and the rooms were clean and the service was helpful. Each bungalow room has a ceiling fan but for the A/C you must pay $20US additional per day. On their website they have a photo of a nice pool but the reality is that it is a very small “above ground” pool that had cloudy water, thus, it doesn’t count as a hotel pool. The swimming and snorkeling across the road aren't that good. There are no "sea view" rooms (as their webpage photos portray) and to see the "sea" you need to cross the main road. They have no Internet on the property. The rooms have neither TV nor phone. You can get breakfast but it is $8 US extra and for dinner they do service a very nice fish plate ($17 US), but no lunch. The nearest restaurant for lunch is either at Samoan Resorts or Aggie Grey's - thus you will need a taxi ($16 US r/t). Finally, if you are catching a midnight flight out of Samoa, there is a steep charge for the day rate ($60 US) and they allow you only allow you 6 hours (11am to 5pm). The management could make this much better if they thought more about what customers need, but they didn't. Our room cost $96 DBL with A/C. When we added in the extend day rate, breakfast and two dinners (plus a taxi to the airport) the bill was $260US for a night + stay. We wouldn't do it again.
