“Thank you Grey Family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

My family and I have recently returned from Samoa. We were due to arrive on 14/12/2012 however Cyclone Evan put a stop to that. We arrived the next day. We were to stay at Aggie's in town with other family members, but the cyclone smashed it way thru Aggie's. Fortunately Aggie Greys transferred our family members from there to the resort. When we hopped off the plane, we were taken straight to the resort and met up with our family members. Our whole stay at Aggie's was a good experience. We could complain that we were too far from town, however we looked at it as we had a roof over our head, power and running water, the people of Samoa did not. We were lucky. The rooms were always kept cleaned for us, the staff are truly amazing. They really looked after us. There were times that we were not able to get food on the menu, however there was always something else to order. The pizzeria make great pizza, and the Asian restaurant was great. You also cant go past an Aggie Greys burger. Thank you to the Grey family and the staff for your hospitality.

We have just spent 5 nights at the resort, and it was pretty disappointing to be honest! The rooms are pretty poor, our one smelt damp, even though there was an air freshening sachet stuffed into the air conditioner. The beach is pretty but incredibly silty, so make sure you pack some beach shoes. I didn't see anyone swimming in the sea at all. The pool was great, cleaned each morning. The biggest let down was the food. It was just yuck, and I found it a struggle to eat anything!! Half of the menu items aren't available, and looking at past reviews this doesn't seem to be a new problem. It's a bit of a lucky dip in terms of what you get. Ordered pesto chicken penne pasta and got some greasy, oily spirals with no sauce and a few pieces of chicken. When I asked about it I was told they must have run out of penne. The worst meal was a roast lamb that was meant to be served on mash, came on a pile of chips with no vegetables at all. Worse still my Mother was chewing away (it was as tough as) and there was a metal screw in her food!!! We did get that meal for free, but it really put us off. We ordered what was meant to be a carrot cake for desert, when it came, it had chunks of flour and other raw ingredients and tasted old and like a dirty fridge.
Sad really, because this
place could be incredible. They have the layout and space to be sensational. it's like it was built and then forgotten. The staff are gorgeous, loved them and enjoyed having chats to many of them. Without them it would have been a 'poor' review for sure. Definitely not worth the money, would never return. Will be sticking to places like Savaii Lagoon Resort, which is much cheaper and a million times more enjoyable!

I have stayed at Aggies resort (as well as the Aggies in Apia) numerous times now on business and that said, would I stay there on holiday? The answer is "no"'...
The staff at the check-in desk on the whole are very slow, which is pretty standard around most of the Pacific, but they also tend not to be very friendly. The bar and restaurant waiting staff are excellent though, friendly and efficient. The only exception is the person by the swimming pool who gives out towels, who I have found to be very rude and surly.
The rooms are OK, very basic and of average cleanliness. I think they are a little overpriced for what you actually get though. Most rooms do get a relatively good view of the sea though, which is nice.
For a hotel that advertises itself as a beach resort, the actual beach is terrible and almost non-existant. On every occasion I have been there, the water has been too silted up to see anything while snorkelling. The pool area is good (especially the swim-up bar, the bar lady is particularly good) but the pool water tends to be at best a little cloudy and unclean, at worst it has been unswimmable. The restaurant is expensive (the prices are fairly standard for a hotel restaurant though) and the food only average at best. Given the location of the hotel, you don't have any other eating/drinking choices nearby. The complimentary breakfasts are only worth what you pay for them - it pays to get in early while the food is still warm.
The resort is also on the approach path for the airport, so you tend to get woken up by jets landing at odd hours as well.
Definitely not worth the money - go to one of the other islands (eg Savaii) if you want a decent Samoan holiday.

For what it is and what u pay it's over priced, the food is not very nice it would be nice to see more island style food. However hotel staff are nice. The rooms need a uplift. The staff were good with the kids. Breakfast buffet was inconsistent sometimes it didnt look very appealing

My Partner and myself both needed a well earned trip away to some tropical island and we chose Aggie Greys lagoon resort
we had a surperb time and really enjoyed the hospitality
some of the reviews are pretty harsh and im not sure what people are expecting ..."Its not New york"
i read plenty of books by the pool while sampling lots of different cocktails
cant recommend enough if you just really wanna chill out

First time to Samoa and wow!
Aggie Grey's resort was all we could have asked for.
Very spacious tidy room, with free cold bottled water and housekeeping daily with fresh towels.
We were planning on a week all over Samoa but ended up only leaving the resort once as we had such a great time. The staff were AMAZING. Hats off to Teresa and the hard work she has obviously done here. A special thanks to "happy feet", Kalifa, Pepe and Lily for the amazing fun and laughs, you guys made it special.
The resort needs some money spent on it, ripped umbrellas and untidy gardens.
You have to try the Aggie Greys cocktail special - devine!
Food was fab, not one bad meal in 7 nights.
The attached spa was amazing also.

Room Tip: We had a downstairs room but the cleaners room and still heard no noise. If we went back we would as...

We we there in July.....nothing seems to have changed according to the majority of BAD reviews. I cannot believe that people can actually be happy with this place.
After complaining to the General Manager, who not longer exists at this resort and him agreeing that what I was saying he had heard all too many times and even agreed with me on several issues he promised me that the menus would change, towels would be replaced, umbrellas fixed, service staff be given more training, menus would be updated so that what they offered could be provided but none of this seems to have changed.... He did promise to compensate me for some of the costs incurred for our (falsely advertised - by their website -) holiday. I honestly was not expecting anything so thought this to be a bonus. After several emails we recieved 3 nights x 2 rooms rebate (we had two rooms for 11 nights). This was by far the best thing that came of our Aggie Grey's experience. For more info on this resort go to my previous review. Dated 17/7/12 titled "Absolutely Disgusting- Still feeling sick". I hope if you are looking at going here - honestly take notice of the negative comments - they are all true.

Room Tip: At any other resort in Samoa - probably!
