“Amazing underwater fales”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

We stayed at Coconuts in the overwater fales for the first three nights of our honeymoon.
The fales are brand new and just beautiful. We loved sitting on the private terrace and was nice having a restocked mini bar everyday! They are very expensive, but it was worth the splurge for us.

We saw so many turtles from the terrace which was pretty amazing

The restaurant was nice, however it was quite expensive compared to other places on the island

The pool and bar area are nice and a great place to waste away the day.

My husband went on a few surf trips with Neil, who was fantastic, super friendly and filled with information

Talofa and thanks so much for your great review of our Over (not under!) Water Fales at Coconuts Beach Club. How wonderful that you were able to watch the turtles swim by, from your over-water deck. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, and hope to see you again very soon. Thanks!

Really nice property. Friendly staff. The beach and pool are great. If you can, go on a Saturday when they have a great local food making demonstration at lunchtime and then they have a show that night. Snorkelling is OK, but reef is still damaged from tsunami. Still a wonderful place and will go back just to stay in the overwater bungalows!

Room Tip: Overwater bungalows if you can afford them.

Talofa and thanks for your review of Coconuts Beach Club. So glad that you enjoyed our resort, the beach, the pool, and our friendly staff. Saturdays are a special day at Coconuts, with us featuring Samoa Culture Day. This tends to be a huge highlight for our guests, and we are so happy you were able to experience it. Thanks again, and we will see you again - in our new Over-the-Water Fales.

A big thank you to Coconuts Resort & Spa for a fantastic holiday. Our over water Fale, (Fale Lina) was the Fale located at the very end of the pier and overlooked the ocean from every window. The views were breathtaking. The staff are to be complimented on their friendliness, efficiency and cleanliness as we were wanting for nothing and were always greeted with a friendly Telofa (which is hello in English) from all the staff we met. The linen was spotless and all rooms were serviced daily. The fridge is restocked throughout the day but not necessary at the same time as the room service is done so please be patient. Things are always done on Samoan time. A big thank you to Tala for our wonderful East Coast tour and again to Tala and Faith for our Savaii island tour which was heaps of fun. We appreciated learning about the culture of Samoa from you both. We chose not to take the meal deal as it gave us the opportunity to eat at a couple of other restaurants close by (walking distance), all of which were excellent. Because of this, we would recommend not taking the meal package as it gives you a bigger variety during your stay. It can also work out a little cheaper doing it this way. The water is beautiful and warm for swimming and snorkelling but unfortunately there is limited coral at the resort itself due to the Tsunami in 2009. There are however turtles which swim past the fale’s between 4pm and 6pm each night if you are lucky enough to be snorkelling at that time. If you are lucky enough to be at the resort on a Saturday, ensure you participate in the Cultural day is this is well worth doing. The staff at Coconuts looked after us extremely well and we would highly recommend this resort. This resort is more suited to couples. We hope one day to be returning nuts!!!

Room Tip: Our order of preference - over water fales starting with Fale Lina. If fale's not available, th...

After our first visit in October 2012, my husband and I decided to return on exactly the same date this year to this wonderful and relaxed place. We booked online from their website and took up the great 20% discount offer for "Returning Nuts". We stayed in beachfront Fale F again and loved it. We enjoyed our stay very much overall but the weather was noticeably better in 2012 with much more rain this year.

We had a wonderful tour around the island with Tala who was extremely informative and friendly. He took us to all the main points of interest around the island. We weighed up the option of getting a rental car or a private tour. We are glad that we took the private tour as we were free to enjoy the scenery and get great commentary along the way.

We chose again not to select the meal deal as we enjoy having the option of dining at both Sinalei and Lupi's cafe next door. We found Sinalei's food and restaurant service to be of a higher standard than Coconuts. We also love having good cheap lunches at Lupi's. However, we definitely prefer the beautiful setting and good accommodation of Coconuts to that of Sinalei.

Our fale was always kept clean and tidy by the staff who were all very friendly. We will return, but next time we would try out the new overwater fales.

We were very lucky to meet some very nice people whilst staying at the resort, everyone seemed to be there to have a good relaxing time.

We agree with some of the other comments here that people need to realise that this is an island holiday where service and life is on 'island time' and therefore the service will be at a different level to a 5 star Hilton type resort. We find this to be one of the main attractions to a very relaxing holiday.

We would like to thank all the staff for looking after us and look forward to seeing them again.

We booked our holiday through flight centre and decided on staying at coconut resort & spa as they price was great and as this was our first island holiday out of Australia looked like appealing. Had no idea what to expect as we only had reviews from Trip advisor.I will say now these reviews that rubbish this resort need to realize that this is a island holiday and not the Hilton hotel but saying that it was perfect. We had a long flight from Melbourne and arrived at the Airport at 10.30 pm ,and a car waiting to take us to Coconuts, which took around 40 Min so by the time we got there we were tried and wanted to go to sleep. The chiefs were at the reception to make sure every thing As we arrive to our room it was not what we booked as we were to stay 8 nights in the Over the water Falas but were put in the tree house. We were a little bit disappointed but decided to speak to them the next day.
After speaking with reception we found there had been an error with the booking so we ended up having 3 nights in the tree-house and 5 nights in the Over the water Falas. It was nice to experience the different rooms and after all we were on holidays .The tree houses are fantastic ,very rustic but extremely clean ,and the beds comfortable, in fact the whole resort was clean considering the lady's that clean your room and surrounding do it with a broom. We then moved into the Over the Water Falas ans they are incredible so open and the views magical.

On coming to Coconuts we did not take the meal plan as we wanted to experience different foods and we are glad as we at a lot at Coconuts and Sinalei ,the food was fantastic quality 41/2 star and about the same price as Aus. we also ate a few time in the cafe next door which was about half the price and even though it was nice the other was better. We had a birthday celebration for my wife at Sinalei and they put on a show for here with the band and a cake which was fantastic to see .

There is a bit do at Coconuts with Kayaks ,snorkelling which we brought our own but the place is not suited to children and they would find it a bit boring .The tours we great and well worth the money around the coast and over to Savaii Island with Tala and Faith. We thought about hiring a car but glad we did not as there is no way we would be able to see the things we did as some of the landmarks in at villages houses and no signs.

They day we left we had a flight out at 930 pm so the resort let us use our room until the 7 pm so we had a nice relaxing day snorkelling and swimming before we had to leave.

To round up our stay there we no regrets at Coconuts we had a wonderful stay and every one that worked there were so friendly ,a special thanks to Faith,Seepa,Albert and Tala for making our stay very memorable, hopefully we will back back soon.

Let me say first, that I think there WAS internet, but we chose not to pay for it. And there WAS a TV in the library/lounge area - but the only time we saw it was when the All Blacks game was on.

We have just spent a week at the Coconuts Beach. We came outside the school holidays, and left the teenagers at home. Not sure if they could cope with a week, and no computers !

We chose a tree house room. Spacious, with a good bathroom, separate toilet, and a balcony. The ranch slider has mosquito netting and the bed had a net too. But we still got bitten. That's not a criticism, and we could have slathered up with repellent - but its all part of the experience.

The room had a small mini bar that was free and replenished daily - total contents was 2 x beer, 3 x soft drinks and a carafe of wine - but that's enough.

We also chose to go onto the Meal Deal from the 2nd day - which was backdated to arrival. Breakfast, one course lunch and three course dinner, - unlimited house beer and wine with the meals. At 250 Tala per day it was a good deal - and bearing in mind the resort's location, its a good idea.

Took one tour - and scheduled another until the rain arrived. Drivers are mixed - our one did not commentary, and was not very outgoing, but other people had a driver who told them heaps of stuff.

The facilities include the basics, and if you want anything flasher, then maybe a different resort. But the spa/massage was great. The Saturday cultural activities included kava, coconuts, cooking and a walk to the village....before an excellent floor show in the evening.

Overall, this is a good quality, relaxing resort. The staff were helpful and personable. This is a good resort for relaxing, and taking it slow. Their 3.5 to 4 star rating is about right. And although I have read some criticism, you have to remember that the tropics are hard on buildings etc, and a bit of deterioration here and there is nothing to worry about. After all, in the last 5 years they have had a devastating tsunami and a huger cyclone - and they are still excellent !

Room Tip: Even the tree house rooms are excellent - and you don't have to pay for sea view or over water f...

Stayed 5 nights in a over the water fale. Beautiful scenery and wonderful people. The food was good quality and we really enjoyed the Cultural show on Saturday. Some of the Bar Staff could be a bit more energetic, but overall we had a great trip and would stay again!
