If you're looking for a truly relaxing holiday then savaii lagoon resort is for you. Situated right on the beach it is a mere 20 or so steps to the waters edge. Beyond the waters edge are coral "gardens" that stretch out a couple of hundred meters to the edge of the reef. Full of all kinds of colourful fish this reef kept me occupied for a good part of my 10 day stay at the resort.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they will be able to offer advise on what to do and will help make arrangements - I recommend seeing the old man who throws coconuts into a blowhole and the pyramid if you take a trip around the rest of the island.
The falaes are clean and well maintained with a fridge to cool your Vailima and a telly that should be ignored unless you take a DVD with you - a DVD player is available to rent from the office as well as a selection of DVD's. They also have a small library which I found very useful as I forgot to bring a book!
One thing to keep in mind is that you would be well advised to stock up with food before arriving. There is a small shop across the road but you would be better off doing some shopping after getting off the ferry.
I had a very pleasant stay at Savai'i Lagoon Resort and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I hope I can visit again someday.
