“Great value hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

I agree with all the praise already given to this hostal by other reviewers. However most people that stay here are young and as my husband and me are a little more mature we didn't find it a particularly friendly place to stay. If you are 40 or over I would suggest looking for somewhere else to stay if you want more friendliness from your fellow travellers. The owners themselves were very friendly and helpful.

This hostel was excellent! We arrived really early in the morning, so had to wake up the owner to get in, but he was so good about it. We got our rooms and they were great. Private bathroom with hot water and bright airy rooms. The place has obviously been taken care of, and it's really clean. There's a nice kitchen that never seemed to be overly busy so it was never a problem preparing meals. The staff were really kind and helpful, and the son, who works on reception, speaks very good English. For the price, I couldn't fault this place.

I've been to Baños before and stayed at a couple different hostels, including Princesa Maria. Didn't hesitate to go back this time around. The owners are so friendly and very helpful-- Saulo, their son, speaks English if you can't speak Spanish.

The common kitchen is pretty small, so it's a bit difficult to make meals at "high times" because everyone else is doing the same. Aside from that it has all you need to cook great food!

I've stayed in a triple and a private room, both great! Cable tv, wifi, and consistent hot water is great. One issue with the private room on the 4th floor is that there's a huge draft. Not normally a big deal as it's not too cold here but when it rains it's quite cold out so the room gets chilly. Plenty of blankets make it easy to snuggle up and go to sleep though!

They clean your room/change towels etc when you ask them to, or if you'd rather just have your garbage changed you can leave it outside your door.

Location is good. Just a couple minutes up rocafuerte from the main square, where there are many cafes, restaurants, stores, bank, supermarket. Also close enough to the bus terminal to walk (save the $1!).

This hostel is a great value. Have already recommended it to people. Have never met better hostel owners!! Thanks for being my home away from home!

Lovely, extremely well-organised, family run place. Perfect place to recharge battery, owners have lots of information to help you on your way around Baños and planning your further trip. Lots of activities you can start directly from town, everything in walking distance. Rooms are comfortable, fresh towels, beds with firm matresses and sufficient blankets to keep you warm. The place has everything you could possibly wish for, and all this for a budget rate. Definitely recommended and a place I'd like to go back to!
