We stayed in Ushuaia for a total of 5 nights three of which we stayed in the Freestyle Hostel. Arriving late at night and without a reservation, we could not get a room in a hostel at first, but moved here after checking out a number of places in Ushuaia. We found this to be the best. It's maybe a little pricy for a hostel, but accomodation was generally on the more expensive side in Ushuaia. The hostel offers very clean rooms (we had a double room), also the shared bathrooms were very decent and clean. The view from the room and the common room on the top floor was simply splendid, since it offers you a full view of the bay. The breakfast was included and more than you could wish for, in particular since Argentine breakfast is generally quite a meager meal, but here it was rather generous. Internet ist available for a reasonable charge and there are public computers in the lobby. The staff was extremely friendly and spoke good English. The kitchen offered everthing you would need to cook yourself a decent meal and there was enough "fridge space" to store your food. Also, the dining area downstairs would offer you all it takes to enjoy your meal. Generally, the hostel is more on the functional side with little emphasis on charming interior design. Rather, it is apparent that concerns of the interior decorater lay more with the "easy-to-clean" question, but after all, it was actually very clean which I, personally, prefer over cute, yet dusty curtains with flower petal patterns.
The hostel is well located in close proximity to the main shopping street and the harbour.
The hostel is frequented by a younger crowd, but my husband and I (we are in our 30ies) didn't really ever feel that it was too noisy or buzzing and we in particular did not have any trouble sleeping at night.
