“Good choice for Ushuaia Accomodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

This hotel is clean, comfortable and a short walk from the main shopping street in Ushuaia. A substantial breakfast is provided with the room rate. Rooms are well appointed and carefully maintained. There are suites available so see if you can book one at the regular rate. There are rooms on the main floor which tend to be a bit noisy from activities around the front desk. The staff are helpful in answering questions and getting you to the airport. Cruise lines pick up your luggage at the hotel so there is no need to drag it along to the meeting place.

Room Tip: Ask if there is a suite available at the same room rate as normal.

I and my wife stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during our recent visit to Ushuaia, Argentina. It is centrally located with just one block to the main street where you can shop or eat in good restaurants. A grocery store (supermarket) is only two blocks away. The room including the bathroom was clean. We were surprised that the floors of the room and bathroom were heated. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay at this hotel.

Reading the reviews and looking at the photographs, I wonder if there is confusion here? Some of the photos are definitely of the "Hotel Fueguino" that we stayed in - some I certainly do not recognize! 'Fueguino' is a well-used word throughout Ushuaia, so maybe there are other similarly-named hotels or pensions. The hotel that we stayed in is a newly-built hotel and is one block from Ushuaia's main street on the corner of a hillside block. Our room was perfectly acceptable with king-sized bed and modern bathroom - certainly not with 'worn' carpets as suggested in some reviews. The reception and bar/restaurant staff were most helpful and had many suggestions as to what we could do. A day-trip to the "Hidden Lakes" was a good choice - with a superb all-you-can-eat Patagonian-lamb lunch thrown in - and a trip up to a local glacier and surrounding countryside on the "Aerosilla" ski-chair lift (in summer, no skiing!) is a great way to spend a few hours. Our room was at the back, looking up the hill over some pretty down-market yards and buildings - this is the southern-most 'city' in the world with some pretty extreme weather, so no real surprise, there - and we didn't bother looking at the "Beagle Channel" view rooms as we were out most of the time. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Our room at the back was fine, but a 'Beagle Channel' view may be worth asking about.

Our room was clean and quiet, the breakfast was good, and the Main Street is only a few meters away. Would stay there again.

However, certain parts of the hotel could do with some work, such as the carpets which look worn and the wifi which was rather unreliable.

This hotel is on the side of a hill overlooking the town. Just a short walk to the shops, restaurants, etc. We stayed there before and afetr an Antarctic cruise and found it a very good spot. Our room was a Channel room, overlooking the port and Beagle Channel, and this is a definite recommendation. The 'Mountain View' rooms tend to look at the hill behind the hotel unless you are on the top floor. The only slight downside was the restaurant. The food was good but the menu was in Spanish only, and the restaurant staff had only limited English.

Room Tip: We had a 'Channel View" room that looked out over the port area nad Beagle Channel - defini...

On the positive side, the hotel is pretty new, the rooms are a nice size and clean, walking distance to everything in town and the buffet breakfast very good. On the negative the hotel is one block off the main street overlooking a number of run down houses. All in all we had a good stay.

Was very surprised to read Luciana F's review! Our room was very clean (actually, so much cleaning fluid had been used that when we first arrived it was rather overwhelming!!), well furnished, light, lovely bathroom with lots of goodies in there to use. The location was wonderful, could walk easily into town and was near a small supermarket. Breakfast was fine, wifi good, staff helpful. Only slight downside was barking dogs at night but can't blame the hotel for that! Enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: Try to get one at the back of the hotel rather than facing the road as that is where the barking see...
