We just returned from a whirlwind trip to Argentina, which included a few days down in Ushuaia. We booked on-line with the owners (Sebastian and Maria) about a month before our arrival. Maria responded to our emails so quickly and provided many helpful tips and recommendations about excursions while we were in Ushuaia.

From the complimentary pick-up at the airport to painstaking attention to all of the details, we truly enjoyed our time while at Tierra de Leyendas. It is a beautiful B&B located on a hill with amazing views of the Beagle Channel and the mountains. We were welcomed with glasses of wine, chocolates for valentine's day, and delicious buffet breakfasts. It was the warmest hospitality from any hotel that we have ever stayed in. The owners truly made us feel special - we even received a special private lesson on Mate (the national drink) during one of our breakfasts.

The only negative comment (not really a downfall) is it's location - it is about 4 km away from town and about a 12 pesos cabride (about 10 minutes). If you are interested in being in the center of Ushuaia - this b&b is not within walking distance. We went into town every night after our daily excursions and actually did not find it to be a downfall - we were able to come back to a warm and inviting environment, away from the touristy downtown area. Anytime we needed a cab, the staff would promptly contact one; we never waited more than 5 minutes for a cab to arrive.

Other perks include free internet access and tons of free DVD's to borrow...

Located a bit outside of the center of Ushuaia, you will need a taxi to get there. It faces the Beagle Channel and you can enjoy the scenery while having your breakfast or from some of the rooms. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. They are concerned with the history of the Indian people in that part of Fireland and want to share this concern with you. The whole house is very neat, with a care and love for details that gives it a specific feature that makes you feel at ease and at home. Highly recommendable !

We stayed here one night en route to Antarctica, and found this delightful inn a charming surprise. They are very big on the little touches: they greeted us with a glass of wine, were totally accommodating in every way (including a late dinner) and had a better movie selection than the Faena hotel in Buenos Aires! They have a computer terminal with free internet access available in the lounge any time, and the rooms are all clean, well-sized, and (at least ours) had a lovely view. I'm not a huge fan of B&Bs generally because I tend to like my privacy, but this place was the perfect combination of attentive service without being too in my business. Loved it!

Unfortunately we only stayed for one night but we were lucky to get a room with a view to the Beagle Channel. As we arrived on christmas day they greeted us with a christmas stocking full of chocolate. What a nice surprise. We ate in town, as the restaurant was closed. Breakfast on the next day was very good, and the seating was wonderful. The owners are very warm and welcoming, the hotel has a very relaxing atmosphere - I would have liked to stay longer. You need to take a cab to go to Ushuaia which would be the only thing that is a little inconvenient.

To be greeted at the airport by a young woman who welcomed us to Tierra de Leyendas and then facilitated our cab drive to the hotel was a real treat after our flight from El Calafate. Tierra de Leyendas is a warm and inviting place with well designed, comfortable rooms and bathrooms.
The view of the snow covered mountains out of our room made us want to keep the curtains open.
The staff helped us map out our plans and arranged excursions for us to see the penguins (ended up being a very long bus ride) and a boat trip which was perfect for the sunny days we were lucky to have for our stay.
Maria and Sebastian are great to work with...Maria was gracious when we had to change our dates several times due to a medical issue and Sebastian is a chef extraordinaire. In advance Maria also helped us find a hotel in town for several nights when they didn't have space. When we had to leave in the morning to catch our boat, Sebastian personally took our luggage to the next hotel. That's going "above and beyond". These seasoned hoteliers have a well deserved, very bright future ahead for their Tierra de Leyendas.
